It doesn't depend on the games they play. It depends on the number of games they are available afaik. If they are available, they get their salary for that day, whether working or not.
Yeah picking a genuine fast bowler's slower ball doesn't mean you are going to score. Different story when its a trundler who bowls slower balls.
