I was wrong. The Knights have won the Sunfoil Series after thrashing the Lions inside 3 days. Picked up maximum bonus points in batting and bowling whilst the Titans haven't.

Climax turned into anti-climax in a way.

Well done to Duanne Olivier going past the magical 50 wickets in a season mark.

He had a bit of mongrel about him. Another fast bowler produced from the area. Wouldn't surprise me to see him get his franchise debut in the next year.

Currently 3-11 v North West - NWEST 37/3 (15.0 ov, WJ Lubbe 0*, K Rapulana 11*, M Pretorius 3/11) - Drinks | Live Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

Anton Ferreira
Tertius Bosch
Fanie de Villiers
Rudi Bryson
Steve Elworthy
Albie Morkel (Was 150 in his youth !)
Dale Steyn
Morne Morkel
Marchant de Lange
Chris Morris
Hardus Viljoen
Duanne Olivier

From which 'area' do you mean?

The Morkels are from Vereeniging, so was Tertius Bosch, but Steyn is from Phalaborwa - those 2 places are quite far from eachother

The one's that grew up or get their debut in the Northerns/Easterns/Titans area. Sure it is a wide expanse of land but not many people play cricket in Phalaborwa/Tzaneen where Steyn/de Lange grew up.

I do appreciate that Morne Morkel played for Transvaal/Gauteng at Nuffield/Coke Week but he went through the Titans academy/Easterns and Albie always represented Easterns even though they both went to Vereeniging.

Taking wickets and now scoring hundreds.

Shaun 'Warne' Von Berg

Crucial knock that. They were facing a deficit on the unreliable Benoni wicket in small scoring game so far but ended up with a 40-run lead.

So crucial as if the Titans win I am pretty sure they win the title but if they slip up the Knights and Cobras are in good positions.
Von Berg you champion. Nortje bowling with some nice gas.

150* for Daryn Smit in his last innings for the Dolphins. Been a stalwart and die-hard Dolphins/KZN cricket representative.

Says he is not ruling out getting a professional contract as a local player for Derbyshire moving forward.

Lots of new names above in the leading charts from previous seasons which is a positive. With a big SA 'A' tour to England coming up it was vital to get a good season. SA 'A' haven't toured England since 1996 and even then we just played counties whereas England Lions have been to South Africa a few times since then.

1996 SA 'A' squad was too good : The Home of CricketArchive

Sven Koenig (WP)
Gehardus Liebenberg (FS)
Jacques Kallis (WP)
HD Ackerman (WP)
John Commins (WP)
Herschelle Gibbs (WP)
Steve Palframan (Border)
Lance Klusener (Natal)
Roger Telemachus (Boland)
Paul Adams (WP)
Brett Schultz (EP)
Nic Pothas (TVL)
Nicky Boje (FS)
Greg Smith (N.TVL)
Dereck Crookes (Natal)
Meyrick Pringle (WP)
Gary Gilder (Natal)

Sven Koenig was unlucky to never play for SA.

Looking forward to the announcement of the A-side, will give us an insight into who the selectors have in their sights.

I know we'll see Ramela in above some people who are far more deserving.

Hopefully not, now that Zonda has stepped up. Will Ngidi be back from injury?
I hope so, I don't think it was a particularly serious injury.

What other black guys are likely to be in the A-side?

Mosehle and Phehlukwayo will be I think, Zondo, as you mentioned.

Malusi Siboto possibly?

Maybe... possibly Phangiso? Otherwise just the 4.

You know with Rabada, Bavuma in the team and Phehlukwayo, Ngidi coming through, Zonda stepping up. One more real quality black batsmen and the quota in SA cricket at international level would not have any issues.

He was very good. The depth was so strong. I think only him, Smith and Gilder were the only one's to not play for SA.

Hopefully Ramela embarrassed himself enough this season with his 7 off 79 ball-type innings.

I like Mosehle (always felt he under achieves with the bat) but what do you think the selectors will do after the success of Second and Klaassen ?

Momentum One-Day Cup starts Friday. Majority of games on TV. Starting with Titans v Dolphins.

Talking of Dolphins. Morne van Wyk has stepped down as the captain and handed the reigns to Khaya Zondo. Morne believes he has another 2 or 3 seasons left so that will take him to 40.

Difference Prince made almost immediately to the Cobras says a lot about how Adams was coaching/managing the team.
Lions have almost been a victim of their own success, probably did not expect to lose Petersen, Tsolikele, and McKenzie not being there is a big blow. But ultimately the players that have done well for them, Bavuma and Cook in particular, over the last couple of seasons have gone to play at international level. Whereas the Knights had deBruyn and Olivier in particular, Hendricks, deLange, Seconds all playing well this season. All players on the edge of call up; with Olivier and deBruyn probably lost to international setup for next year. And my Warriors the continual try hard team... well continuing to try hard. Good competition this year in the end. Well done to the Knights.

Clearly brought and instant positivity and has highlighted the loss of Stiaan to potential SA team 3 times in 3 weeks now. The way he spoke about the players in that interview, it's sort of easy to understand why they played for the team again and to show they better than their previous performances by miles.

Still not convinced with the Lions. vd Dussen, D.Hendricks and vd Bergh strike me as those players that might just keep doing enough to stay at franchise level. It's a big producer of talent the area, so I hope they can bring through more QDks etc

The Knights have got a lot going for them right now. Got some good young talent in the wings. They certainly feed well off the Titans scraps as well. I would stick my neck out and say they have the worst set of 'black African players' with the Cobras so there was huge performances from else where. No More Adams and Klusener but former Proteas Prince, Boje and Boucher leading the way.

Warriors had some good years under Mickey Arthur and Russell Domingo. I can see some positive signs though. Problem for them next season may be amount of Kolpaks and who can play or not.

Brothers Morkel set to play on Friday for the Titans. Got to leave out three from Elgar, Kuhn, Markram, Klaasesn, Wiese and von Berg though. Not easy.
