Squad depth (or lack thereof) a big problem too I think. Furball and I have touched on it before, but his style is very frenetic and high intensity. Couldn't be kept up all season with the squad they have without things going a bit south.
The keeper issue alone has probably cost them a lot of points. Incredible that it only took Mignolet one game to make a funnier blooper than fixing the wall while the ball flew past him.

Worse, but not funnier surely. That was glorious.

Leicester players really lacking in intensity for a team in their position. Mahrez is completely mia and he's not alone.

Happy to take 3 goals and 3 points but when the other teams this bad the performance looks better than it was.

Would mean they play the following year while in the Chamionship. Unless there's a rule stopping that.

Last year was like the perfect storm for them, they had about 6 players have the best season they ever had and remained free of injuries and suspensions to key players. Those players who were brilliant last year have reverted to the lower level they previously had which was Championship/relegation in Premier League level. Losing Kante on top of that was a huge blow.

Yeah their CL performances suggest there's more to it than just Kante+ mean reversion. Probably finding it tough to get motivated.

Norwood's on Fire
It's not unusual for a club who wasn't a regular title winner to struggle the following season.

Blackburn, who had been around the top for a few years and were among the favourites, struggled in 95-96 (Dalglish stepping down will have contributed too) and Leeds were disastrous in 92-93 after winning the title in 92. Yes they sold Cantona but they had been an excellent side prior to signing him so, as with Kante, it wasn't all down to that.

Hey Furball, what is going on with Warburton?
Mixture of things.

Largely crap signings in summer.
Our style in attack has been really poor and we've struggled to score goals all season (32 goals in 24 games)
Seems like Warbuton's abandoned his principles to a degree in favour of 'conventional wisdom' - Barton and Kranjcar in summer weren't the sort of signings I'd expect.

A large portion of our fans are spoiled brat panic merchants who can't accept that we're still in the middle of a major rebuild (exacerbated by the dreadful job McCoist did) and who simply don't have the patience to see the job through.

I'm not as convinced that Warburton is the man for the job as I was 12 months ago and it's concerning that we've regressed majorly in attack which he doesn't seem to know how to fix.
