now the big question - will this be a random fluke 'debut' or will he actually bat this well all the time

A few of the Victorian hierarchy have been massively on the Stoinis train, I didn't quite see it and always thought there were too many flaws in his game. But that was one hell of a knock, ridiculous stuff in your 2nd ODI.

a) no-one can bat that well all the time.
b) think he's horrifically suited to batting at number 7 in general, he's a top order bat who struggles to rotate the strike.

Nah **** that. Stoinis deserved to win that.
Agree, NZ bowlers didn't deserve that. They were bowling 4-5 perfect balls for boundaries hitting in the end, Totally lost their nerve. Fair play to KW at the end, after lacking composure to flick it to Santner on the previous run-out.

So Stoinis was on 14 off 35 at one stages & ends 146 off 117. Last 132 off 82. MOTM contender?

Up with Styris' 141 in the 2003 WC against SL in terms of great innings on the losing side. Possibly even better.

Firstly, that was some incredible hitting. Some powerful boundaries from Stoinis, and to perform in your second ODI is a phenomenal achievement.

...however, he only has that in his game. He actually can not hit singles, as we found out in two crucial moments at the end there.

I just don't think he will become a consistent performer until he develops his game quite a bit more.

EDIT: Only 10 of his 48 runs in his last First Class game were singles. Just sayin'.
