I imagine both sides did tbf. God the scheduling of these series has been dumb.
yeah and that's been reflected in the lack of full strengthyness of the teams, especially before Christmas. Hesson would probably be hung from the street lamps by joe public if he tried to rest or get funky while hosting Australia. I imagine resting Smith and co. would have seen Lehmann cop similar before Christmas.

All said, the undoubted highlight for NZ this summer is the South African Test series.
another silly bit of scheduling, surely they could've worked it so South Africa went to NZ from Australia similar to how Pakistan went from NZ to Australia

have we left the FTP yet? because this is the sort of thing that might be common in the bilateral negotiations era.

In 2010, I remember that. 80 odd wasn't it? And didn't he come in as a replacement?

Both the dismissals so far have been rather soft dismissals. Plenty of runs to have on this pitch imo - though Australian batting is rather inexperienced, so 270 may be par against them. NZ has the batting to reach 310 from here, especially if Taylor gets set to partner Guptill.

Agree it's dumb playing the Chappell Hadlee twice in one summer - iirc last time the concept lost its attraction was because they'd overdone it and they're going to make the same mistake again.

But... right now we have cricket on tv and it's good. Guptill our best ODI batsman now?
