Feel for Blundell, but if that's the case then I guess the XI would be

Guptill, Latham, KW, Taylor, Broom, Neesham, Munro, Santner, Southee, Boult, Henry

Get that it's Eden Park, but still wish we had the option to pick Sodhi. As it is, I'm sorely tempted to leave out Munro and pick 4 specialist quicks - but I tend to think that Ferguson will get bazookered.
Larsen hinted that Sodhi will come in for the 3rd game. The see Auckland & Napier not suiting spin, & I'm sure the short boundaries are part of that. Personally I'd like to see Sodhi. He offers something different, and had Australia in a spin in the T20 world, admittedly on tracks condusive to spin. There just seems to be a real sameness to that NZ attack in that XI,

I agree, but with the squad that's been picked I think it's the best we can do.

I hadn't looked at our squad, but seven batsmen and Neesham bowling 10 overs (or close to) doesn't give us the balance that Latham keeping wicket should. If they want to avoid that then they've given themselves no choice but to pick De Grandhomme in place of Broom or Munro. A shame Anderson isn't bowling atm.

Yeah, the only problem is I can see the Aussies mauling CGD just as much if not more than Jimmy N or any of the others. Also, I assume they'll try to share those 10 overs between Jimmy N, Munro & KW. Either way, there could be some carnage.

Jeez mate, that was basically 5 years ago, with the exception of his WC comeback, but yes he's been a massive loss.
I know and I have been posting same for that time. Point is Kiwis have not had anyone since that could touch Dan.. except perhaps Sodhi who impresses me.

So Kiwi cuzzies can you beat us? No Warner for us opens the door a fair way. Hazlewood should get more assistance from your decks than ours. Starc getting back to his best. Plus our express merchant Patrick Cummins is back to cause some mahem.

Smithy out of NZ tour. Tweaked an ankle in the dead rubber last nite. Precautionary I would think with India the priority.

My question is who will captain the Wattlys as Warner is also out.?

Not saying I don't agree, but what's making you think Henry won't get bazookered? He's been pounded for the majority of the season, domestically too.

I think Hess won't go for that line up, I can't see Neesh bowling 10 overs. They'll probably go for a bits and shits player like CDG :(

EDIT; Williamson has been bowling lately, so maybe they'll back him to get some overs in.

Our decks are just as flat as yours these days mate. Cummin's seems a bit over rated, probably just because I listen to Channel 9 commentary instead of muting it like I should.. We should be putting up green seamers, you'd expect/pray to god our batting line up will be more solid looking at the team sheets..

Looking like it will be a classic Chappell-Hadlee Series this one

ie. almost all of Australia's main players rested

Poor scheduling so close to India tour I guess

It's a shame no one in NZ can swing the ball atm because I was quite looking forward to the confused expressions on the faces of the Australians walking back to the sheds for squat after targeting the straight boundary at Eden Park.

Roll out the jam clay for Seddon Park and play four or five pretend spinners imo.

True, last year Australia were full strength & NZ missing Taylor & Milne IIRC in that series NZ won.

And this time with NZ missing Anderson. McClenaghan & Milne & Australia Smith & Warner, neither side will be at full strength again. I suppose that's just the nature of international cricket these days, rarely do you get your very top side on the park.

I'll be disappointed if we can't return the 3-0 compliment in home conditions, even though NZ haven't been playing that well since KW has taken over. The home advantage seems to be huge in Chappell/Hadlee matches.

I believe in the history of Hadlee-Chappell ODIs since 2004 it's 14 - 12 to Australia, so 3-0 would see NZ take the lead back.

heh not sure those NZ players are the same league as Smith and Warner just quietly

Really? I still think Australia should win pretty well. Still, stranger things have happened.

When does it start?
