I thought this was the case though? I could be wrong but wasn't the essence of the message given prior to the tour that, anyone that didn't wish to go could pull out with no black mark against their name, but they do so with the knowledge and risk that any replacements may establish themselves. I don't think there was any guarantees given that they'd hold their spots..........that's a crazy thing to do under any circumstances.
Yeah, I hope that's the case, but you could take Strauss's comments either way IMO.

Last year Morgan missed the Ireland game to stay in the IPL. This year Strauss is not likely to let that happen. He will be expected to captain against Ireland and miss that part of the IPL while the other England players will be allowed to stay on.

That's almost relevant to my favourite Ireland cricket fact

Boyd Rankin has dismissed Ed Joyce in ODIs. In 2007 when Rankin was playing for Ireland and Joyce was playing for England; and in 2013 when Rankin was playing for England and Joyce was playing for Ireland

Interesting point made by the commentators. The umpire shouldn't take the usual position to judge run-outs, as he is blocking the camera.
