Congrats to Bangladesh on their best ever overseas test innings.

Embarrassingly bad from NZ and it's been a while since I've said that, though there have also been signs the last 12-18 months, particularly from the bowling unit.
Interesting you use 18 months, because that's seems to coincide with the exact period our bowling started declining since the 1-1 tour of England in mid 2015, with the notable exception of the recent Pakistan series.

It was a vague thumb-suck tbh, though yeah, that 2 test England tour was a time when we were playing really well, though the softness was creeping in especially in the soft first test batting capitulation.

Been fits and starts since then, partly accounted for by Southee and Boult being injured at times, however that's no longer a reasonable excuse, if it ever was.

Opening with Mehedi. Love the balls in this approach. Kinda want them to succeed tbh.
I do too tbh, this could be a good lesson for NZC as to why like other cricketing nations we should be concentrating on preparing wickets to give us the home-side the very best chance of beating the opposition we play.

As well as Banger's played & as poorly as we bowled, this pitch has been a failure in this respect.

There's no way in the world we'd get anything like a pitch that could suit us better than Bangers if we toured there. Wouldn't happen in a million years.

Agreed. Can only assume they wanted it to last 5 days. Given our ability to collapse they might not get that

I'm sure it was just arrogance on our part, & I'm sure the message went something like "It doesn't matter if they've flat tracks for the Bang series, we should be able to bowl them out regardless".

True, but the bigger point was the failure in inserting the opposition (without McGrath) and then the opposition hammering you to be 112/0 after 25 overs.
Haha yeah, that's true. Just has always amused me how England nearly choked that match (lol 6-75) when they should've put Australia away.

If Fizz were playing, we would be a good chance of losing this Test.

Openers struggling against this Roy lad

Medi getting some turn too.

Jeez, we'd better score big. No disrespect to Bangladesh, but this pitch is obviously a complete featherbed.
I actually think it's one of those rare NZ tracks that will suit Asian sides better than us. Flat for the first 3 days & possibly taking turn with variable bounce of days 4 and 5.

I wonder how much that has to do with the indifferent summer weather we've had so far.
