*Official* Bangladesh in New Zealand 2016/2017

This is BD not Pakistan mate

We've actually won one of a our last 6 tests
Yeah Bangladesh are definitely not minnows. A bad Test nation but they're genuinely competitive with both bat and ball in a manner similar to other terrible Test sides of recent memory.

Zimbabwe are a minnow,

We are a generous lot though aren't we. We'd never get anything but a low bouncing & spinning mud-heaps in Bangladesh that don't suit non-SC sides in the slightest, yet we return the compliment with a flat- track with a little grass on top to flatter to deceive early on.

Probably an arrogance that we'd run through them even on roads. Good lesson this.

? The Basin is just like this now, can't say the groundsman didn't try to leave grass on it.

You realise that description fits NZ to a tee
Nah, NZ are an average Test side, probably warranting their current number 5-6 position. Bangers are still a minnow if we're honest. Winning one Test at home against a middle of the road English side in their own conditions doesn't make them a non-minnow overnight. Beating NZ in the test series would go a long way towards it though.

The pitch did have a bit in it early on, but we seem to have forgotten how to pitch the ball up. Consistently bowling ODI lengths.

All NZ pitches should be like the ones we got in 2002. At least SA is doing it right by explicitly asking for anti Herath pitches.

Yes it does

How good you are as a team now has no relation to past test record or future test success. Watching BD play should be enough to tell you that these guys are no longer minnows.

They're just as good as West Indies and Sri Lanka, for example.

I think this is definitely an issue, its a very NZ-at-home thing to dominate initial exchanges and get all ****y.

I feel very confused by people's attitudes here. Every single Test in the last 10 years at the Basin has been on a pitch like this.

I haven't seen much today tbf, so I'm guessing it must be a remarkably flat & easy pitch without difficult bounce, swing or seam. NZ have produced a few of these wickets of late, that look green and spicy and end up being some of the flattest wickets you could imagine as the match goes on.

Surely against a side like Bangers who don't like generally like bounce, pace and sideways movement, you roll out nasty spicy green tracks that will do lots throughout and back yourself to handle those conditions better, a la India's tour in 2002. Hence why I say NZC/Grounds people were probably arrogant enough to back themselves to roll Bangers on flat-tracks.

God damn it ending another day with a loss of a wicket

This is a bad habit that needs to stop
I'm just glad my call that once we got through the Rahim/Shakib partnership we would roll through the rest for like 50-100 doesn't look quite as stupid. I didn't exactly predict the 300 run partnership but heyyyy

They need more than one Test win at home for me, but don't let me stop you calling them non-minnows.

We both know if NZ rolled out a bouncy fast green track, with a little variable bounce & seam Bangers would get absolutely rolled, as I said they underestimated Bangers here by rolling out a road with nothing in it for the pace bowlers and it's now costing. Should be a learning.

It's something SC sides are much better at doing is ensuring non-SC touring sides will face the toughest possible conditions, NZ need to get back to this.

Yeah ... and it's lead to some pretty dull tests at the Basin tbh. I rarely bother heading along to tests there now for that reason.
