Australian batsmen averages at home are just phenomenal these days,

We had the Voges/Bradman thing going on & now we have Handscomb after 4 tests averaging 90 & Renshaw almost 65. They're just filling their boots. Amazing stuff.
The main difference is that Handscomb/Renshaw haven't stunk the place up when we really needed them to score yet.

I've been meaning to ask about Voges, did he actually officially retire from internationals or just having a break after being struck? It was confusing me, because i know he was going backwards at a rate of knots in his last few tests, but he still averaged more than 60 career to date no?

Basically he was about to get dropped even if he didn't get injured. He's back playing BBL but he looks charred.

Yeah, I know he's playing in the BB, hence why I was confused. Harsh dropping a fella with the 2nd best Test average in the history of cricket isn't it, even if he did have a bad last couple of tests?

Did he officially retire from internationals though or is it just a case of not being selected since?

He's not retired; just not picked. I think his injury has confused matters a bit for some people; he was 100% going to be dropped at that point anyway IMO.

Think he hasn't done much from the Christchurch test.. So that would be one test in NZ, three in SL and two vs SA.

Jeez, from Bradman to ass within 2-3 tests. It's not like he was the only Aussie bat to struggle against Herath in SL & that SA attack at home either.

It irks me from a cricketing history POV that he finishes up with the 2nd best test average. Damn Aussie selectors.

40 years from now some random batsman who no-one rates will come in and finish a short career with an average of 65 and people will say "It irks me that he's finishing with the second highest average" and "don't worry nobody is going to think he's as good as Graeme Pollock, George Headley or Adam Voges"

Just saw the leg slip chance again. Not sure what adub saw but that was well wide of Wade's gloves, basically went straight to Warner.
