You made me check cricinfo, I didn't for a second believe Marsh had a FC bowling average south of 30, but it is indeed 28 & that really surprises me. I always thought he was nothing more than a Corey Anderson/Jimmy Neesham-type handy 4th seamer to soak a few overs up at best.Absolutely Marsh's bowling should always have been considered his strong suit. A guy with an FC average in the 20s in both disciplines is a bowler who can bat a bit.
Agreed on interested if Cartwright can get it to reverse though. That would make him a handy package.
Not like he was just coming on occasionally when conditions were helpful either, 2 wickets a match on average is very solid from your all-rounder.You made me check cricinfo, I didn't for a second believe Marsh had a FC bowling average south of 30, but it is indeed 28 & that really surprises me. When I first saw him bowl he tried to just send down tempting slow-medium outies outside off. He wasn't very successful at that - he's upped his pace fractionally and tried to zero in on the stumps instead which is a good call from him IMO - but movement in the air at the very least is/was something he has in his bag.MMarsh's bowling was kind of underrated tbf, at times he was a legit third seamer in terms of quality and output. Looks like Cartwright is going to be a more Shane Watson style of bowler though, which is why I want to know if he can swing it (or, more importantly, reverse it)
I remember at one point we agreed on Skype that he was probably a better bowler than Siddle at the time of the discussion.MMarsh's bowling was kind of underrated tbf, at times he was a legit third seamer in terms of quality and output. Had some pretty short spells at the batting crease in that series too.Mitch Marsh bowled some pretty useful spells in England in the previous Ashes.
Doing my best mateThat's it old man. Give us something to enjoy.
Stand by that tbh.I remember at one point we agreed on Skype that he was probably a better bowler than Siddle at the time of the discussion.
That slips catch he missed was plenty enjoyable. That's it old man. Give us something to enjoy.
That's a big thing though, a lot of guys just smack him around and open up the chance of getting out, I'd say at least 60-70% of his wickets come from a batsman looking to hit him to the boundary rather than defend him.So much respect for SOK compared to Lyon.
Lyon's probably a higher chance for a wicket imo, though I doubt these two will do anything stupid with 5 overs to go.
