not controversial at all
I mean it might be the case that our batsmen like the more docile pitches a bit more, but it's surely not worth the physical toll it places on our bowlers. I'd happily trade a few less hundreds—there'd still be plenty—if it meant we got another year or two of peak Johnson.

agreed. Regardless, whether or not conditions suit our side has little bearing on whether they were prepared deliberately.

You're not entirely wrong that Australia are possibly more suited to those conditions, but suggesting that they are being prepared on purpose because Australia are more suited to them is very wrong
How else can you explain the Gabba going from fast, pacey and seamy, or the Waca being the quickest pitch in the world, or Sydney and Melbourne offering spin and variable bounce later on in the game.

I'm sure it's been discussed at length in the past, I know I've seen it be discussed at length.
Essentially it's ensuring that games last 5 days to maximize profits. There's other factors but that's the main one.

Also the fact that a lot of the wickets have been far slower than normal Australian wickets as a result (hence not suiting the Aus team at all).

Personally I'm of the opinion that we should be preparing faster, bouncier wickets to help us, regardless of whether it means the games don't last the whole 5 full days

Tangles

International Vice-Captain
Top ton from Renshaw. That should have booked him a ticket to India for sure. He's a nice foil for Warner. It's useful for us to have a guy who can bat conservatively and long with the stroke makers we have.

International Debutant

Do wickets against SA series fit this description? They definitely were different than what India/ NZ and Pak this series got.

Outside our openers, it's looked like tough work batting today. Full credit to the bowling which has been better than the score suggests.

Definitely suit Australia more than the India tour back in 2014, those were probably the slowest Aus wickets in recent memory.

SA just outplayed Australia in the first 2 Tests.
