Yeah, what's happened to Shah? Has he just been exposed as ineffective on a lot of tracks outside the UAE? Or is he just going through a bad patch?

Dammit, I can never tell if you're being serious or not

But he did average 24 before the drug thing and 38 since it, and I'm tempted to say that's too big a difference to completely write off as down to opposition, pitches etc

Edit: Having read adub's post below, maybe not

tbf Misbah is setting fields to guarantee he fails. Horrendous stuff. He should be bowling atw from Starc's end aiming for Haze and Bird's footmarks to the lefties with some protection at point to bring lb and bowled into the equation and bowling the odd wrong un or straight on going for the outside edge. Get em looking to drive through the covers and spin one through the gate, inside edge to bat pad, outside edge to keeper/slip. Instead Misbah seems to think the only way he can get a lefty is caught at leg slip. So **** it might work once all tour, but probably not.

Eh, it does add up though. Before the 'drug thing' he played 100% of his games in Asia and averaged 24; after the 'drug thing' he's averaged 26 in Asia and 49 away from there. To me this definitely suggests it's been more a pitches/opposition thing than anything else.

He did his job in England too despite averaging 40 -- cleaned up at the two venues it turned and bowled them to victory twice, which also happened to be the only two games they won.

Yeah, fair enough, should have done my research properly. I guess there's an element of him being more of a known quantity now, too?

Has also generally bowled far too quickly

Blocky

lets place our bets on what number Smiths career test batting average has to reach before Blocky acknowledges he can actually bat

I reckon at 65 we'l start to see some reluctant praise from Block in his daily analysis of him
He can bat, I think he's the 5th best in the world, he's no ATG though.

I think if you deny he's clearly the best in the world, that means you think he's Chris Martin.

It's the best or nothing.

I got a similar reaction from some for shockingly suggesting he's only 1st equal with Joe Root currently.

Actually, just seen an article on cricinfo with Shah taking responsibility for the fields. Not sure if he's just trying to shield Misbah, though
