People kept thinking bowlers would work Ponting over and get him LBW easily because he walked across the stumps, and he kept making runs as they bowled at his pads. Seems similar for Smith.

Graeme Smith as well. Trolled opposing bowlers into aiming at his pads for a decade.

The key is not to aim for an lbw, it's to go so far down that he gets caught at leg slip. We would've easily won the series if Dhoni realised it earlier.

I think South Africa did pretty well against him, Herath had him tied in knots too - the trick is "Don't bowl to Smith on Australian pitches if you're the Indian, West Indian or Pakistani pace attacks"

Pretty impressed with your unwillingness to give this away, excellent concentration and endurance.

Somewhat analogous of a big Steve Smith century, ironically.

lets place our bets on what number Smiths career test batting average has to reach before Blocky acknowledges he can actually bat

I reckon at 65 we'l start to see some reluctant praise from Block in his daily analysis of him

I think he could average 65 in the India tour and Blocky still wouldn't offer him any praise.

he could make three triple centuries in a row while batting left handed and it still wouldnt happen

indeed the former is much more likely to occur

I don't think Smith would value a personal milestone like a triple hundred much. Don't think he'll get one since he will try too hard to accelerate for the declaration and throw it away. He's no Nair.

I'm hoping Pakistan turn up for this.

They have just never put it quite together Pakistan despite moments.1st Test they were useless throughout before Shafiq and their tail end decided to do something right at the end and pull off a miracle. 2nd, they were good in their first innings, bowled expensively then were skittled out in a ridiculous manner. Outside Shafiq and Azhar Ali (and some tail end wagging) their batting has not performed, and their bowling woefully expensive: Rahat Ali averaging 57 and Shah 63.50! Some of their bowling was expensive in England also but in the 30/early 40s bracket.
