I wouldn't say that the UAE, India 2012 or Ashes 2010/11 were particularly favourable conditions. It's probably fair to say his record outside of England isn't terrific overall, but he has had enough great series outside of swinging conditions to avoid a bowling FTB tag.Just comparing him in swinging conditions to non-swinging conditions. He seems to go missing unless he gets help from conditions, whereas Broad can be useful anywhere
I've never seen him bowl except against Australia so those other series don't countI wouldn't say that the UAE, India 2012 or Ashes 2010/11 were particularly favourable conditions. I know I've heard all about itSmith only scores runs on flat home pitches.
I'm interested in Matthews being listed. Admittedly I haven't seen him play in 2+ years but he was always talked up (and his play seemed to support it) as a player with a good understanding of his off stump and all the tools to excel outside the SC in seaming/swinging conditions.Ross Taylor, absolutely.
It's funny how you can put Warner and Voges there but not Smith and Khawaja.
Angelo Matthews comes to mind.
Younus Khan.
Bowlers,
Ashin, Jadeja, Herath, Southee, Boult, Anderson, Shah
HmmmI may be misunderstanding the meaning of 'flat track bully' or 'downhill skier' but it seems to be misapplied in most cases. The majority of the players listed just look like guys who perform better at home or in favourable conditions, which is true for pretty much every player in history.
I mean, guys like Anderson, Warner, and Herath all have pretty decent records in most countries but it's not surprising that their records tend to be inflated against weaker opponents at home. In fact, you'd probably hold it against good players if they failed to make runs/take wickets when given the opportunity. It seems odd that it is an indictment against certain players when it's actually a very common theme in cricket.
For the record I do not consider ABdV a downhill skiier at all. It's just fun to wind up Jono.No way abdv or smith are downhill skiers. Both are class and will be considered atg players in their retirement.
that'll explain anderson's much better record than broad in asia thenJust comparing him in swinging conditions to non-swinging conditions. He seems to go missing unless he gets help from conditions, whereas Broad can be useful anywhere
