No, it is actually a tactic that they've talked about, they believe shorter pitched bowling is harder to hit away at the death and in powerplay overs rather than attempting the yorker.
The bigger point is Southee has no bigger heart or spine than Patel, yet never seems to get an ounce of criticism from within the NZ camp.Don't mistake Southee having a great eye for Southee knowing how to bat. If you gave his eye to someone like Wagner, then you'd have a guy averaging 25... but Southee himself isn't a batsman, he's a guy with a phenomenal eye but no footwork. And even he doesn't look as scared at the crease as Patel did.
Let us return to the bowling coaches we had when Southee was swinging the ball and taking wickets i.e. Donald and Bond."let us return to the bowling coach NZ had back when their bowlers were **** and southee averaged over 40 with the ball"

I don't think Jeets ever got any criticism from within the New Zealand camp (well not publicly anyway). He wasn't dropped after that series because of his batting, he was dropped because he was in no fit state to play after his mum died. The bigger point is Southee has no bigger heart or spine than Patel, yet never seems to get an ounce of criticism from within the NZ camp.
Someone needs to dig up some footage from somewhere. I'm not really a Patel fan but from what I've seen he always tries hard so I am a bit surprised by this harsh criticism.Trying to equate Southee backing away and swinging madly at everything, versus Patel backing away and willing the ball to bowl him is the difference.
There is no footage on Youtube, but what Patel did was ****ing disgraceful for an NZ International Test Cricketer.
I have it on quite good authority that a reasonably big deal was made of that at the time within the camp, with BMac stressing that they don't back down to anyone moving fwd, all part of the new agreed philosophy the team spoke of after the 45 all out.I don't think Jeets ever got any criticism from within the New Zealand camp (well not publicly anyway).
it's almost like NZ know Bangladesh are so loose to that delivery atm that they know they can bowl them poorly and still get resultsAnother short pitched ball taking a wicket... and more justification.
