Jeez, what happened to Matt Henry??
It was more the way he was sprinting to square leg as the ball was being released; Chris Martin showed more courage at the crease than he did in that series. It's made even worse by the knowledge Patel can actually bat too.Just reading Bmac giving Patel a serve in his book for backing away vs. Steyn and co in 2013.
Jeez he got a hard time from that, I thought it was pretty spineless too at the time, but got to ask how Southee & a few of the others get away scot-free from similar criticism. Seems Jeets was singled out somewhat.
Chappel Hadlee series in Oz happened.Jeez, what happened to Matt Henry??
Heavily reliant on wickets that seam and batsmen who try play him straight, he's always been rubbish when players hit him through the line.Jeez, what happened to Matt Henry??
I've felt like he's been in decline for longer than that.Chappel Hadlee series in Oz happened.
He should given he was our most successful bowler in the previous game.Wonder if Williamson might consider bringing himself on again.
In hope of getting into the head of batsmen. Good strategyHaha, they're playing a Disturbed song in the ground during the delay. As you do.
If Santner can correct that front arm and pivot more through the crease, he'd get so much more rotation on the ball which would make him phenomenal - he's already getting good dip and bounce, a bit of drift and the ability to spin it back against the natural line would put him in Vettori's class.
And so can Southee. It was more the way he was sprinting to square leg as the ball was being released; Chris Martin showed more courage at the crease than he did in that series. It's made even worse by the knowledge Patel can actually bat too.
No, it is actually a tactic that they've talked about, they believe shorter pitched bowling is harder to hit away at the death and in powerplay overs rather than attempting the yorker.I don't understand this infatuation NZ bowlers have for bowling short. Why do they persist in doing this? Is it a tactic or just an inability to hit the right lines and lengths?
Don't mistake Southee having a great eye for Southee knowing how to bat. If you gave his eye to someone like Wagner, then you'd have a guy averaging 25... but Southee himself isn't a batsman, he's a guy with a phenomenal eye but no footwork. And even he doesn't look as scared at the crease as Patel did.And so can Southee.
I'm not for a second defending Patel for that, just highlighting the double standard.
