130-135kmh swing bowlers who can't consistently hit yorkers, don't have venom enough to be express with bouncers and ultimately are only practical if the ball is moving.

You're right. Usually Boult bowls well and Southee doesn't.

Bangladesh still have a lot of problems but I think they're way better than last time they were here. They blew the game today; NZ had better improve to avoid dropping game 3.

Majority of BD's losses since around 2011 have been self-inflicted.

Talent wise they have what it takes to compete at this level. They're not longer being routinely outclassed each game. They're just imploding. Dumb shots, bowling rubbish under pressure, missing crucial chances in the field.

And it's just one of those things that so deeply embedded in the team culture, kinda like choking at world events for SA or losing to India in world events for Pakistan. The only way to break it is by actually breaking it, and till that day comes they'll keep on putting performances like this.

Atleast they've established some level of dominance at home in ODIs and have won a Test now. I hope they're more competitive in the last ODI and in the Tests.

I like what I've seen of Ferguson in that he bowls 140+ and actually appears to rush batsmen (unlike milne) but it's obvious he's got serious fitness work to do. No use being 150kph for two overs. Southee is frustrating because he looks completely innocuous but chips in just enough to avoid the axe. Still prefer Henry tbh. Leaves us in an awkward place as we don't have good choices for the third seamer role given Mitch's injury. Probably worth giving Wags a shot in the pyjamas already.

That was disappointing - was hoping Bangladesh would put up a better fight. I thought after they beat England in the World Cup in Australia that they might have turned a corner, but it seems they're still only competitive in home conditions.

Broom's performance here makes things interesting selection-wise. You would think this earns him another series, but presumably further down the order at number 5 as Ross comes back.

Neesham, Munro, Anderson, etc. would effectively be fighting it out for one spot.

If you go with one of the more batting-dominant players like Munro, Kane would legitimately have to bowl quite a few overs.

Well Bangladesh just did a Black Caps in the 3rd CH ODI in Melbourne recently. They did all the hard work in restricting NZ, got off to a reasonable enough start and then folded like only the Black Caps can. Still a win is a win I guess.
