***Official*** Pakistan in Australia 2016/17

Can someone explain why there are so few spectators? Is it just regards to the state of the match? I can't imagine if England or SA were playing at the MCG. Unlikely to be a result, but Aus could theoretically make 600-650 if they bat out the rest of today which would make things interesting.
Likely to rain by mid afternoon.

i'm not for a second an advocate of a typical channel 9 declaration, but if Clarke was still captaining geez we'd be seeing a funky declaration soon

It is still a flat wicket. Makes far more sense to bat on and try and get close to 600 than declare.
exactly. Regardless of the flatness of the pitch it would be pure stupidity to declare before having a lead that you think has a decent chance of being enough to bowl the other side out again without having to bat again

Not really. Lets say there is chance of rain but the wicket is poor. If one can back themselves to get more than the opposition in the second dib, one can think of declaring with scores level say. If Australia in the 90s was playing England in the 90s , they might consider this option as the sides have a difference in strength and the other alternate is a draw. Really depends on the difference in strength of teams, state of wicket, how much a team can back themselves and of course the state of the series.

Wait until you see him in the second innings where he averages 100.:-O:ph34r:
Haha. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that Aussie wickets are relentless for certain kind of bowlers and maybe he would do better in England but ****, have some variations man. It's disappointing as I have seen him bowl some good spells in odi cricket. However just doesn't seem to have the strength to bowl long in tests at a certain level.

This match is boring to watch, Australia aren't massively advancing the game, the pitch is absolutely flat and offering nothing to the bowlers, it's just meandering.
If it doesn't rain and Australia make around 600, they can win this.

He falls away after his first spell. Its annoying for Pakistan as his batting has improved, but in a four man attack, its not enough to compensate. I reckon they may bin him and play Ashgar the spinner next test. It would be a massive punt, but not as if they have many options.

No chance you see Sohail bowling in Asia however, was abysmal in the UAE v West Indies.
