*Official* Bangladesh in New Zealand 2016/2017

Not Terrible
Well Smith And Popli aren't terrible. But yeah, not a great start to the tour. Very inexperienced NZ XI.

utter crap loads only good at playing mud cricket
lol come on..This was expected..it's just a different brand of cricket and they are playing outside of home for the first time.

The ODI cricket played in SC these days, especially in Mirpur is very different from the ODI cricket in England, New Zealand or Australia

Disappointing hit-out by Bang truth be told, that was effectively a bunch of mildly talented domestic no-names they took on.

Bangladesh lost all the practice games in their preparations for the world cup to a bunch of amateurs, yet qualified for 1/8. The purpose of a practice game right before a series is to get a feel for the conditions. Bangladesh don't take practice games seriously.

They also played against teams that werent Nz at home.

The problem with world cricket, teams do not get enough match practice in conditions other than their home ones.

Bangladesh and India will always be hometown heroes who struggle away from the subcontinent
England will always resort to picking old never-was spinners like Gareth Batty who can't do anything for them because they have no reason to develop real spin depth at home.

It's only really South Africa, Pakistan and Australia that you could lay claim to having all weather attacks at the moment.

Oh yes, those world beating spinners that SA and Australia have make them such a force on the subcontinent

New Zealand squad looks half strong/weak. If they were to play in Bangladesh, they would've lost all the matches including the test series. New Zealand are still firm favourites to win all these series, but it's just that Bangladesh are not the Bangladesh of old anymore. I checked the scorecards of the last visit of Bangladesh to New Zealand, and though Bangladesh lost all the games, back then, they did pretty okay where the New Zealand team was just as good. I'll go with this XI: Tamim, Imrul, Sarker, Riyad, Mushy, Shak, Shabbir, Mash, Taskin, Rubel and Fizz. The problem with Bangladesh going in with 8 batsman is that they easily become complacent, and as a result, achieve a score lower than expected. Having 7 batsman makes sure that our batsman bat with responsibility, and score those extra runs.

Gone are the tour matches!! In a former era a tour to say Australia would consist of c. five games against the Sheffield Shield states. Some tours to England would include around twenty games against the counties - admittedly some were two-day games.

I think adding 2 tour games to the Eng/Pak series this past summer really helped the tourists. They didn't have preparations of that sort against NZ and had the most basic prep for Australia. Which brings me onto a second point, touring sides, whether it's subcont teams going outside or those teams going to the subcont, if they do play tour games they are normally against 2nd or 3rd string XIs. Reading a lot oft he literature surrounding tours from decades past, you'd have top domestic sides playing against the touring international side. That would help a great deal.

Issue with tour game is if the visiting side ends up loosing, it would be far more embarrassing

Fizz is better than Boult despite the volt being ranked #1. Not only that, but Fizz is far more exciting to watch than Boult. Both played for Sunrisers, yet it was the Fizz that was getting all the attention and accolades, so that shows; in fact, Fizz has won a few awards – more recently the ICC emerging player of the year. What about Boult? :P

Fizz will probably miss out the odis according to new reports emerging. In hindsight, playing for sunrisers and then going for sussex did severe damage to Fizz. He even played few games with injury for them. BCB needs to manage him strictly and carefully.

If Fizz doesn't play then New Zealand are firm favourites to win the games. Fizz is the main trump card in the team. Stupid of Bangladesh to allow him to play in so many T20 leagues: only IPL is enough unless we have a series clashing.
