Except Arsenal had to win the game to have a chance of topping the group, muppet.
Except topping the group is fairly unimportant, and they only had to draw to have a chance of topping the group. It was just highly unlikely that it would make any difference. On this occasion PSV contrived to drop points.

The worst is when you lose the first tie 1-0 away and are crapping yourself even when you go 2-0 up at home. Especially if the 2nd one is scored in extra time.

Literally none of this post is correct.

It's interesting you guys mentioned Arsenal's game management in the first leg often being bad. Maybe the biggest benefit of topping the group is that we'll go away first and not throw guys forward late in the match feeling the need to win.

We signed Ben Tollitt on a permanent deal today

Not only are we going to win the league this season, but League 2 next too.

Ink it in. The deadly submarine is rising.

And you know how pessimistic I normally am...

The fact that you even fell to the 5th division should be reason for eternal shame.

CDMs and PSG were level on points with PSG winning the tiebreaker. So merely gaining a point could have seen CDMs topping the group if PSG lost. Not difficult to grasp. PSG and CDMs had already beaten Ludogroets three times out of three. With a goal difference of +9 in the process. So yes PSG dropping points to them at home was highly unlikely.

Still makes it a must win game for Arsenal you buffoon.
How does it make it a must win when they're already qualified, and a draw could elevate them to 1st? I realise you're a bit bewildered by the whole idea of winning games of football and qualifying.

Because a draw was never likely to be enough to win the group. And winning the group makes a difference to the chances of advancing beyond the last 16. Arsenal's potential opponents in the last 16 are Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Sevilla, Porto, Benfica or Bayer Leverkusen.

Had Arsenal finished 2nd, then that potential list is Barcelona, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Monaco. The first 4 teams in that 2nd list are (IMO) 4 of the top 6 teams in Europe currently. I'd much rather be taking my chances with the 1st list.
