The Kane Williamson Average Watch thread

Will Kane average 50 in both ODIs and Tests at some point before Feb 2017?

When I was going to become main/mod/big/kahuna here, I was going to edit all your posts into Simpson quotes, thus 1) annoying you 2) making all your posts 100% more enjoyable, but this shows there is some point in your posts.

I think we now need to classify Kane as a kiwi who averages under 50, like Chris Martin or Stephen Boock.

I actually really enjoy watching him bat tbh.
No problem with that, I enjoyed Chris Martin, I don't really remember Boock, I'm quite proud I just remembered the name of a terrible Kiwi batsman from that long ago.

No way does anyone who bat in the modern era in NZ or England finish with an average better than 52-53.

Mark Richardson's belief that he should retire with a 60 plus average is looking quite shakey.
Lol, I remember that hyperbole.

I'll be delighted if KW can finish up with a Test average in the late 40s when it's all said & done truth be told.

Kiwis tend to overrate him slightly based on the fact he's the first truly world class batsmen we've had since Crowe.

Lol Athers, your non-response suggests you were comparing a 2010s batting average with a 1980s one as if to suggest it's meaningful in some way :p Funny bloke.

Don't dodge Athers. You posted some stats without explaining yourself, & when questioned, you failed to respond, forcing me to make the assumption you were comparing those two.

I don't know what problem you have with me saying KW is our first truly WC batsman than Crowe, and because of that many Kiwis tend to overrate him. Mark Richardson suggesting he should average in the 60 is a classic example of this.

Eh that is something people say whenever they see a potential great. But he will be disappointed if he is not among the top 3 in his generation.

so zinzan you're admitting steyn and mcgrath are greater than marshall and hadlee? :)
Steyn is up there with Marshall and Hadlee obviously, and many would say McGrath is too.

The fact McGrath never had to bowl to the best batting side of his era (for reasons out of his control) flatters his statistics somewhat IMO.
