Not Terrible
Raval doing what Guptill always struggled to do, finding runs even when he's not ontop of the bowling.
Yeah, Guptill had more of a tenacity to stick around when he was clearly finding it tough than people credit him for. But he also struggled to score which usually made it all for nought.

Yup, Guptill would have been dismissed 5 times already in 22 deliveries. Two nicked behind, two LBWs and one played on.

Pretty much.

It's why it's never a bad idea to add shots/run-scoring abilities. Not the same thing as #intent.

Nothing better than an opener that has a pull shot in his armoury. Lovely stroke that, very nicely controlled.

@Blocky:

Raval's technical peculiarity where his back leg backs away whenever he plays onside shots...is there something that you'd use to target that?

No, I think it's a false tell personally - i.e someone in poker trying to bait you in. He seems to have a very good eye, plays the ball late enough with a still head, so I think while people might try and target him by bowling at leg stump full, he'll enjoy that.

His flaw remains probably a fifth stump line, he plays earlier on the off side and has a more open stance to balls going across him which means extra bounce/movement as per the first over with Amir will really trouble him.

Ideally to Raval - you have a left arm bowler who brings it back into him from outside the off stick - i.e a left arm in-swing bowler like Alan Mullally (only one I could think of)

Yeah agreed. I feel as though it's only something that a genuine pace bowler could probably exploit, or might be more of an issue in bouncier conditions where you'd put in a bat pad and leg slip and maybe get some to jump off a length.

definitely don't like the look of raval's driving outside off. Needs to stay patient.
With his leg side strength and also punching down the ground, he could almost do away completely with his off / cover drives and just leave the ball, at least until he's got past the first twenty or so overs.

Interestingly is how easy it's seemed for them playing the other bowlers, it's just Amir that's been a big challenge.
