They should have a Victoria v Rest of the World Test match like they did with Australia in 2005/06 when Australia dominated

The 3rd round of games completed and all is right with the world

The Bananabenders put one over the Croweaters, who badly missed two thirds of their bowling attack with Mennie and Worrall out
The Apple Eaters surprised the Sandgropers thanks largely to Doolan, perhaps they will get some confidence back now. WA without a Marsh for this game.

Judging by those numbers Labuschagne looks like he is a chance of going player of the Shield too.

Assuming the 4 debutants play at the Adelaide Oval, look at the number of Aussie reps playing / trying to get picked domestically

SA
Ferguson, Head, Zampa, Richardson, Sayers, Mennie, Worrall (7)

TAS
Dunk, Doolan, Bird, Bailey, Faulkner, Boyce, Paine, Doherty (8)

QLD
Renshaw, Burns, Khawaja, Cutting, George, Lynn, Reardon, Forrest (8)

WA
Bancroft, Voges, Rimmington, SMarsh, MMarsh, Agar, Paris, Tye, Coulter-Nile (9)

VIC
Stoinis, Handscomb, Wade, Maxwell, White, Christian, Boland, Tremain, Holland, Quiney, Siddle, Pattinson, Ahmed, Hastings, Finch, Muirhead (16)

NSW
Warner, Smith, Maddinson, Henriques, Nevill, Copeland, O'Keefe, Lyon, Bollinger, Starc, Hazlewood, Cowan, Cummins, Abbott, Sandhu, Rohrer (16)

64 overall and I'm sure I've forgotten someone.

That's insane. 64 is enough players for nearly an entire competition.

Does anyone who knows more about the domestic scene than me think we’ll ever go back to playing Shield cricket in December and January? It depresses me that our domestic competition is sidelined from the prime summer months. This massive gap in playing long form cricket must have something to do with the consistently low averages of Shield cricketers these days? I mean a guy averaging 40 is cheered about these days, it’s bizarre. Can’t we shift BBL to Feb/March? How does IPL work – has India’s domestic season been shunted to make way for IPL?

I don't think so. The whole idea of the Big Bash is to try and make it as accessible to the kids as possible. Even the games that were played in mid-December a few seasons ago had poor crowds and ratings - it's only once the school holidays begin that it takes hold.

Hopefully they will go back to mixing up the season in October/November & February/March seasons between OD and FC stuff though.

BBL has basically abolished the SA cricket post-Christmas collapse so I'm all in favour.

hey vic do you know why they got rid of the baby bash (the mini t20 comp the 2nd xi teams had before the bbl). it seemed like a good idea, even if it probably didn't have too much of an impact. If it's been replaced by actual 2nd xi games that's great, but I don't think it has...?

Nah, don't know why. I used to go watch it in Melbourne, enjoyed it.

Cheers. It makes sense in terms of the school holiday stuff although that's really depressing as essentially only thing they'll be exposed to is BBL. Who knows how long test cricket will be free to air. My nephew who I've done my best to get into cricket isn't interested, football (soccer) only for him. Silly English father.

Nah they basically just extended the cricket season for the IPL; something there's much less wiggle room for here due to the football codes.

Weird choice, Sandu, took no wkts in the 2nd xl game, and in the Metdaor cup he got banged, seems 2 not have recovered from last year, lucky pick.
Ryan Carters picked only got runs last year for CA xl vs NZ,struggled through the season to get off 0,and apart from a double ton the season before only had an average run tally.Even worse Ben Rohrer hasn't scored a run in 2 2nd xl games.
Think their are some players playing on past glories, and maybe we should pick some rookies from grade knocking the house down.

Nick Larken 210 today, must be the next cab off the rank, especially since he was Futures cup player of the year last year.
