It was always going to happen. He ruled with an iron fist and I think the players have slacked off since he left. The incoming managers have been handicapped by senior players who formed a power base. Rooney being obvious example. The constants since the retirement are the Glazers and Woodward. The latter seems to be a complete moron who knows nothing about running a football club.United are a basket case of a club minus Ferguson aren't they?
Javier Hernandez? Strange shout if so. Ibrahimovic very clearly brand-driven though. It was always going to happen. He ruled with an iron fist and I think the players have slacked off since he left. I think a few of the player purchases have reeked of marketing influence and wonder who really is pulling the strings. Pogba, Kagawa, Hernandez could have been brand influenced and Dong the Chinese player who never played 1st team was nothing but that. The Glazers have made a ton of money of branding and things still looked fine with Ferguson. Since then it's Woodward, 3 managers, expensive signings and big wages. JM needs time but if it's 4th or get sacked like Moyes and LVG he may not get it.

We're surely odds-against to get 4th at this stage. Need to finish above two of Citeh, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, and Liverpool; our performances this season are a league below all of those teams.
I think the board intend to keep Mourinho even if he doesn't make top 4. But in practice the process of finishing 5th or 6th would probably be too messy. I think he might even step down, he seems so miserable all the time.
I went to a few tour games while Hernandez was with us and the amount of shirts I saw with his name was amazing. I also saw more shirts period and I'm in the Midwest. I think it helped the US Latino profile a great deal.Javier Hernandez? Strange shout if so. Ibrahimovic very clearly brand-driven though.

Yeah I remember a lot of Chicharito shirts but I'd guess that's probably because he was so good (at least for a season or two) and everybody loved him.I went to a few tour games while Hernandez was with us and the amount of shirts I saw with his name was amazing. That he was so good was a bonus as I suspect it wasn't the main reason we bought him. He came across as a really nice genuine guy in interviews which l really liked.Yeah I remember a lot of Chicharito shirts but I'd guess that's probably because he was so good (at least for a season or two) and everybody loved him.
MixedQuestion for flibberty
What kind of reaction will Micky get when we come to your place in the league next season?
I dunno about this. Sounds a lot like conjecture. I can recall a number of news articles that came out in the months leading up to the World Cup in 2010 mentioning how he was apparently getting rave reviews from a number of European scouts. That he was so good was a bonus as I suspect it wasn't the main reason we bought him. I don't think he even had much commercial appeal when we signed him, certainly not beyond the fact that he was widely believed to be a really good player and huge bargain. No brand to speak of and Mexico isn't an enormous market.I dunno about this. Sounds a lot like conjecture. We are in the habit of making a complete hash of them since Ferguson. To be fair, "marquee signings" can also be really good at football on occasion. But yeah I too agree with the general point overall.
Yes, I've noticed. We are in the habit of making a complete hash of them since Ferguson.

These sort of stuff in the press won't help either.
United's transfer strategy since Ferguson left basically seems to consist of throwing lots of money around as if desperately trying to remind everyone that they're still important. We are in the habit of making a complete hash of them since Ferguson.
