Plus this kinda illustrates the fallacy of removing not outs.. If you give Tendulkar the same number of NOs as Kohli his average jumps to 49ish. But we know that the reason that Kohli stays not out that often is because of how good he is at finishing off games and not just because he bats lower down the order.

Yeah, but again it's a contextual thing. Removing not out for a number 5-6 can be legitimate.

So, in the 161 matches after scoring their first centuries:
Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 0 4s 6s
SRT :161 157 12 6690 186* 46.13 7482 89.41 24 28 9 700 92
Kohli:161 154 23 7083 183 54.06 7734 91.58 26 34 10 653 71
Curious that Kohli has fewer boundaries.

Also, Sachin was much worse in the 90s at rotating strike than he became later on. We tend to gloss over that because almost everyone was much worse at rotating strike in the 90s. That's how Bevan got his monster reputation.

Kohli is a monster

Kedar Jadhav, ftr, now has an ODI batting average of 49.25 @ SR 105.91, and a bowling average of 7.66 @ Econ 4.6

Aravinda de Silva was quite good at it. Dravid was as well although it was for a short time in the late 90s. Then there was Rhodes too. But if it was ****s like Nayan Mongia or Laxman at the other end, would you give the strike to them?

Always thought Sachin was quite awesome at manipulating the singles between overs 15-40. He was nowhere near as athletic as Kohli is, but made up for it by being a great judge of a run rather than a lightning runner.

Kohli is basically the Djokovic to Sachin's Federer.

Kohli's game is prettier than Djokovic's though.

Not a bad recovery by Neesham, Southee and Henry to post that score. Easy in the end for India and suspect the scorecard looks even easier than it was - NZ still in it until a few overs from the end if they'd taken a wicket or two, or Taylor hadn't dropped Kohli.

So Dhoni played at 4 and played a fine knock. Something I've wanted him to do for about 5 years.

Sometimes I really wonder why captains, coaches, selectors etc. don't see simple things that fans clearly see

I like how Needal didn't even rate a mention in the comparison. That must burn Jono so bad.

I guess if there was a Needal it would be someone like Yuvraj Singh. Picks his format and his surfaces, but isn't in the reckoning anywhere else.

Virat Kohli (c)
Actually the more I think of it, Fed and Sachin are the same. Both awesome, both pretend to be modest and nice people but then eventually blow up and bitch about everyone (Federer's 2011 US Open press conferences, Sachin's autobiography) and both have the worst fans of all time.

Nadal = Lara.

Just caught up with the highlights. Loved the twin lighting fast stampings from Dhoni and the twin wristy flicks over mid on by Kohli.
