I don't see the point of the token fast bowler that all sub continental sides end up picking. The guy who bats at 10/11, bowls an insignificant number of overs for a lot of runs that accomplish nothing but ease the pressure on the visiting side.

I mean, I guess it adds some value in the sense of changing up the pace the batsmen are facing, not letting them settle with the spin, and they could do something with the older ball in terms of reverse swing...but do you need two of them? Surely only Shaiful would have been enough. It's like when India play both Shami and Yadav but ultimately we'd have been fine with just Shami.

Guess the second fast bowler is backup to the first in case of injury?

Should really find a fast bowling allrounder for that role then. Atleast they can add value with the bat.

why doesn't Mortaza play then? surely his pace bowling wouldn't be any crapper than these blokes and he can bat a bit

Yea he's retired. He has no knees. He barely makes it through 10 overs in an ODI, he just physically can't do Tests anymore. It's a shame.

Taskin looked like a legit bowler from time to time in the ODIs, how come he's not playing?

The Banglas shouldn't get too much excited on these inroads. They still have 2 sets of middle-order batsmen to deal with in this England line-up.

Bangladesh would probably be picking Farhad Reza if this was their rationale, I suppose. Still doing really well domestically with the ball.

Bangladesh has come a long way from the 2010 series in England where they opened the bowling with 75mph non movement trundlers. Kamrul is a nice throwback however.

Honestly it's a big deal and we are going to need a huge effort to get up to 400 odd which is what we'd need to control the game. Regardless of what happens from now Bangladesh are going to be in the match.

I'd hate to be an umpire in these sorts of conditions, especially if I was from a country where they're rare.

Other than that the trend of the new ball being more threatening seems to be continuing.

Moeen sounds quite out of touch.

Mushy sloppy behind the stumps, shocker.

Wasted review too IMO. Got too excited. Gassing out already BD. Sigh.

If that had been a no ball because of leg side fielders it would have been the greatest review of all time. Unfortunately it's because he's hit it.

Those two DRS reviews are gonna suck the sails out of BD.

Expect England to accumulate an easy 100 runs in the next session for the loss of no wickets.

Oooh Sabbir to bowl.
