Mehedi's an interesting pick. He's a teenage opening batsman who bowls a bit of off spin and they've stuck him at eight, presumably as the fifth bowler. It makes little sense to me as the presence of Shakib, Mahmudullah and Shabbir all in the top seven makes me think that relieving Mushfiqur of the gloves would've had a lot more upside to it than picking another batting allrounder who bowls spin. Moreover I would've thought Mosaddek and Nasir to be much better fits for that norounder #8+offies role if they wanted one anyway, although neither are in the squad for some reason (although Hom is!?)

The entire way they've dealt with that particular spot, right from the initial selection of the squad, is really so strange. It's such a bit part role that it probably won't matter all that much, but eh.

EDIT: Seems I half-confused Mehedi with Mahedi.
looks like a good bowler for these conditions from the 2 overs he's bowled

Beefy's not there, it's Knight (the Essex one) and Key.

Key's good tbh, only on Sky's B team because he wasn't England captain.
Aah right. What do you mean by the Essex Knight though? I didn't know there was another one.

man, what are you even for if you can't get this **** right
I'm still laughing. So good.

They've chosen not to go with Mosaddek, Nasir or Das because they want another actual bowler, which makes slightly more sense. Still doesn't explain Hom's squad selection though. :p

Ironically a lot of the B team comms are better than the big names who can't be bothered to do some of the less glamorous tours.

My biggest fear in life is that we find out Cook has an off spin problem rather than just a Nathan Lyon problem this winter.

Actually, seems I've confused Mehedi Hasan with Mahedi Hasan, who plays for the same domestic team, debuted around the same time and usually plays in all the same matches. The bloke playing does seem to be an actual bowling allrounder rather than an opening bat who bowls sometimes.

I retract all my confused rants.
ya now this makes sense

Das is not in the squad, is he? I expected him to be.

Has made a shitload of runs out here against Harbhajan and Ashwin. Plus I think Lyon actually got a few jammy dismissals.

The only bowler who's really got on top of him technically is Ryan Harris I think.

TBF I though Mehedi was picked more on his batting potential than his bowling too; have never seen him play and just quickly went over the stats and saw he was replacing Hom so figured it was a like-for-like selection.

Seems to be a real bowler tho. Which is nice.

This teenage offie looks like a serious serious prospect for the future - looks like the kind of bowler Bangla will expect to lead their attack after Shakib's gone.

It's so good to listen to all Bangla fielders and keeper speaking Bangla after every ball.

This stream is lagging during the actual delivery but running fine in the moments between deliveries

Way, way too many swipes at thin air from Duckett. Nervy stuff. Like watching Moeen open last year which is not a great start. Calm the **** down
