How can Morgan get back in now? Root and hales both been in better form this year so will come in for bairstow and vince. But surely duckett deserves to retain his spot?

He'll come back in as captain but he'll be under a lot more pressure. As will Hales and Roy. Buttler and Root are just givens and Stokes and Ali are allrounders with little competition.

I'd imagine the last spot for India for reserve batsman will be between Duckett, Billings and Bairstow. I'd take Billings. (Dawson goes again as third spinner/third allrounder) Harsh on Duckett and Bairstow but Billings is the more complete player. Maybe a spot opens up if Stokes or Ali are rested.

Hope Duckett gets another go in the squad. Agree though hard to find spots, and unfortunately I think they will still go with Bairstow. Duckett/Billings could both miss out which sucks.

I think buttler has stood up brilliantly as captain, Morgans form hasn't been great this year even though the team has been much better under him. Strauss even said the problem with not touring is you open the door for someone else and the replacements havery done themselves no harm.

well done England on the series win, I believe that this is the first home series that Bangladesh have lost in the last six they played..Impressed with Duckett and think he should be given a fair chance..

Didnt get to watch the second half (thanks to work at night) and only followed through cricinfo. Congratulations to England for the series win and we can take a few bit of positives from the series I guess. Most worrying is that we are void of spinners atm in the circuit. Nasir isnt the solution for that, he can be used as Dilshan but nothing more than that.

Looking ahead to the test series now. Team selection and combination will be interesting to see. Not sure when we last played a test match (probably against SA which got washed out mostly). Mahmudullah should be made the captain. Tamim and V2 will certainly open. Mominul will come at no.3. Mahmudullah at 4, Mushfiq at 5 followed by Shakib. Liton did well iiirc in the last test series so he should have a go but I doubt it since hes not included in the practice match. Maybe they need to select Nurul as keeper and hes playing the practice match. No matter what, dont want to see Mushfiq as keeper in tests. Mosaddek can be slotted at 7 and his off spin might come handy. Taskin should debut and I think he's now ready for the tests. Not sure if Mustafiz will be able to play the series othetwise Shahid might be called in or Walsh's favorite Shafiul will share the duty. Jubair must play in the XI.

1. Tamim
2. Kayes
3. Mominul
4. Mahmudullah [c]
5. Mushfiq
6. Shakib
7. Mosaddek
8. Nurul +
9. Shahid/Shafiul
10. Taskin
11. Jubair

I think there is something off about the team balance for Bangladesh. Sabbir at 3 is a worry for me. I know even you opt for Sabbir at 3 and the management thinks so but I think he can be better utilised at 6 or 7 and Mahmudullah should be at 3. Sabbir has failed to produce a solid knock the entire series. If he is a 30-40 kind of player, it's more crucial at 6 than at 3. Mahmudullah is the century at 3 guy.

Yeah I understand that but the team balance takes a blow too if Mullah bats at top. We have seen this at 3rd ODI too when he came to bat at 4. Shabbir is very highly rated in the circuit starting from high performance management unit to Nats level. He did not quite transform the faith except showing few glimpses but I believe it will come. I think management is building him for future and sighting his situation as long term prospect. Mullah takes a bit of time to get going when slotted at top which is fine if he can ante up later but team wants an attacking player to take it up to the opposition there I guess which could be another reason.

Yeah but if he takes longer, isn't he better utilised at 3 when he has more time rather than later when he has to slog? Don't think that's his natural game

Slogging isnt his natural game but he is very effective at late down the order and finishing the game. He has done it time and time again and won matches. When he started doing that then everyone asked why he does not bat up the order watching his good performances. At that time he himself said hes not comfortable batting up the order and prefers to stay down. But management forced him up in WC 2015 at 4 and he delivered. Shabbir was batting at 6/7 that time. Then Mullah was slotted at 3 in some games after the WC iirc and did not quite manage to perform the same again. Then In the meantime BD played some t20s and Shabbir batted at 3 and put together a string of good performances there. LOIs and ODIs are obviously not the same but then there were some uproars within the camp to slot shabbir at 3 in ODIs and see how he goes from there on. The mistake they made was that playing mullah at 4 when they sent shabbir at 3. Either it should be Mullah at 3 and Shabbir at 6/7 OR Shabbir at 3 and Mullah at 6/7 imo.

England's side if I had to guess

Duckett
Cook
Root
Ballance
Stokes
Bairstow
Buttler
Ali
Woakes
Rashid
Broad

They might flip out Woakes for Ansari as well.

Wouldn't be my team but think they pick that

Na, Can't see Buttler playing at all. Bairstow is the test keeper and unless he is injured there is no place for Buttler who isn't good enough as a bat to get in the side. Woakes will play and share the new ball with Broad. Only call for me is whether Ballance plays or not and if he doesn't does Duckett bat in the middle order with Hameed opening. Think Ansari may play instead of Buttler from your side to give us the extra spin option but we will still have 3 quicks no matter what we do with spin options.

I'd play both Hameed and Duckett and move Root down to 4.

I don't like the idea that 2 early wickets for the opposition is guaranteed to remove at least one of Cook or Root if Root is at 3.
