**Official** England in Bangladesh 2016

Hmmm they're not the only side with a long tail atm tho - India have much the same issue in ODIs.

I think the current lineup bats deep enough, but they do lack big-hitting ability. The biggest hitters bat in the top order.

Speaking of big hits...damn. Wet ball hurting BD...sigh
Yes Bangladesh's weakest area is death batting. But a lot of that is genetics/culture. West Indies for instance is always going to produce guys who can potentially bowl like the wind and smash the ball for miles - whether they maximise that potential is another thing altogether. Bangladeshis generally do not have that same physicality. But they make up for it in being a little more skilful in general. So they just have to work it and find other ways to score boundaries.

Ehhh that's a bit simplistic. West Indies haven't always had big-hitting fast bowling allrounders. For the longest time their fast bowlers could barely bat. Mortaza is a fast bowling, big hitting allrounder who has been in the team since forever.

BD haven't taken to T20 cricket until recently with the BPL. Sabbir Rahman is a big hitting batsman who burst onto the scene from the Commonwealth Games T20 tournament, and then the BPL. I feel thats really the impetus behind guys like Andre Russel, Carlos Braithwaite....

MASHRAFFEEEEEEEEEEEE

And just after the commentators said he should stop getting out to soft dismissals

Why are Bangladesh so low-key with their celebrations.. over-compensating for the Buttler incident in the previous game?

Stokes playing a blinder.

England's batting depth is ridiculous.

Need something special here for BD to win this. Wet ball and slow pitch, not much they can do.

As much as I love Mo, he's too mercurial with the bat in this form and too unthreateningly steady with the ball. Not totally fair on him having to bat in a position he's not really suited to.

Quality performance for Shaiful today. Really has been.

England are probably winning this but I'm really happy with how BD have played. This is fantastic. Playing well like this and then losing is bearable. It's when they do dumb **** and lose that it pisses me off. Today has been quite an excellent performance.

Oh well.. that's game over. Just can't afford dropping those in a tight game.

Enormous! My God Stokes has a beautiful swing of his arms, like David Miller.

You work and you work and you build pressure and build pressure and dive around the field and bowl it all in the right spots and right areas and do all the right things...

And then the batsman nicks it...

And the fielder drops it.

It's so deflating as a bowler, as the fielding side in general.

So often these moments decide the game. Batsmen get a boost, begin to believe it's their day. The bowlers are just drained that all that effort has not been rewarded. Everyone is upset.

Tamim you should really be catching those.

Sigh.

And now wides from Shaiful.

One step forward, two steps back.

Such is BD cricket.

Well played England. Was a good series. Plenty of positives from BD, but as usual, plenty of disappointment and 'what ifs' too...
