Random question: who do you think will get to 200 test wickets first - Southee or Boult

Southee only has 23 to go compared to Boult's 34. But Boult has a one match head start and is, y'know, actually bowling pretty well.

Will Southee get scared straight by Henry's recent success? While Boult's injury problems resurface during the long season ahead? Will the Bangladesh tour make a lottery of the whole affair?
Unless Henry has a particularly bad 3rd test, he has to be the incumbent going into the Bang series, which gives Boult 3-4 test on Southee and hence comfortable favourite.

Did it hit in line? Just came back in room to watch end of the replay.

Edit, Cricinfo says "hit his front pad juust about in line with off stump". So Guptill unlucky?

We could easily go with 4 seamers for the Bangladesh series though, and even if we don't I have an inkling the selectors will probably let Tim back in once he's fit regardless.

Aren't Pakistan touring first?

Yeah your right. Either way though, early season pitches could easily equate to 4 seamers.

Yeah I think four seamers is a must in NZ, particularly early season. I'm not convinced it should be four specialists though; I think it'd be great if Corey was bowling fit by that point.

it was a gentle floaty half volley on off stump. Umpire mostly gave it for how badly he played it imo. should've swatted it to long on.

You're right. For some reason I had it in my head we were touring Bangers after India. In NZ we'll have a four-pronged pace attack.

If we're talking four seamers, then surely doug and wags are the incumbents as old ball workhorses. Southee would be absolutely toothless as a third seamer.

Nah, not necessarily if the pitch has a decent grass covering. We kept the ball swinging up to the 50 over market in recent seasons (not including last one when it was really hot).

I can't remember, does Ravi still have an official position with the Indian cricket team?
Nah I'm pretty sure he was removed from any administrative role at all when Kumble was appointed. He quit his ICC cricket committee gig right after that too.
