What happened with the Jeets usage yesterday, Athers?

Was Taylor giving him the Phlegm-style 'I still suspect you're a really ****** Wellington journeyman with a really poor mental game who will crumble on the big stage, so we'll turn the ball away from the RHBs with Santner' treatment? Or did his lack of accuracy deserve to be underbowled? I see he missed out on getting Rohit bowled by mere millimetres quite early on.

Well they started attacking Jeets early on. He didn't bowl particularly poorly or particularly well. I think the usage was more or less everyone else was looking much better than he was. Possibly Santner's best day of Test bowling so far.

Hmm Jeets' speeds and lengths vs. Ashwin's do suggest a bit of a 'once bitten, twice shy' factor there, from this early assault you mentioned. A pity -

Yeah interesting breakdown to see, though Jeets was around those speeds in the first innings too. Generally sits around high 80s to early 90s as a rule.

Yeah, in all the Bears stuff I've seen recently, he's been bowling more-or-less in the 90s.

Patel bowled like Craig yesterday, it was disappointing. The best spell he bowled was the first one he bowled on day 1 imo, even though he didn't take a wicket.

NZ's inability to get through the lower order proving their downfall in this match. Would've had a real chance if we'd knocked India over for 250 and 230.

Agree, I just turned in on 20 mins late, kind of expecting we wouldn't have broken through yet :p. We must be the worst side in the world at consistently struggling to bowl out tails.

It's not a recent thing.

This 'tail' of Jadeja, Saha and Kumar have 18 FC hundreds and a combined FC batting average of 114.

They've been a bit underwhelming in Tests so far, but nevertheless they aren't your regular lower order.

This is good for India to get bowled out asap tbh, no point scrapping around for another 20-30 runs for the sake of it. They've already got about 100 runs more that we could chase down on this on our very best day, given the conditions and bowling attack.

he's going to look like a park hack when he goes to a traditional pace bowling country. plays it decently once he's in but he'll have it even worse than he has here.

so im looking forward to australian anguish when he flukes his way to 20 then scores 50 odd down under.

Makes no difference, NZ have struggled for years against almost all tail-orders, going back to the humiliation of the McGrath 50.

No detracting from your overall point; but using their performances against this particularly batting lineup as evidence of this trend is pretty weak.
