Australian Domestic Off Season 2016

Jake Reed tore his side batting.
Coleman is a big tall left armer that was VFL footy three years ago. Naturally pushes the ball across, and gets good reverse with the old ball.
Doric took a heap of wickets last year, bowls a heavy ball. Big thick chest and manages to challenge the stumps a lot without being too full.

Yeah I didn't have the time this week to try and set a comp up unfortunately.

I notice Sportsbet agreed with my order:
Western Australia 3.25 New South Wales 3.50 Victoria 4.50 Queensland 7.00 Tasmania 9.00 South Australia 13.00 Cricket Australia 51.00

if you're really time pressed, you could do like a lottery or something. so you have 5 people entry and they just get 11 players selected randomly. (but done with a bit more thought to ensure balanced sides)

150+ 3rd wicket partnership has given CA XI a good chance in this game. 2/178 with 12 overs remaining, you'd think they can get 260 which could be tough.

Just give the cup to the Bulls already, the balding ginger can't be stumped.

Assuming each of the states were at full strength, it would be very interesting who gets selected in some hypothetical Sheffield Shield scenarios:

- Which quick would miss out for South Australia out of Mennie, Richardson, Sayers and Worrall?

- The same for Victoria with Boland, Hastings, Pattinson, Siddle, Tremain (only 3 would get selected most likely).

- What batting order would you play WA's top 6 (I really want MMarsh to bat high at that level).

- Assuming Stoinis, Handscomb, Maxwell and Wade would occupy 4 of the spots between 3 and 7 for Victoria, who would get the last spot out of Christian, Finch, White or other?

- QLDs best top 6 will most likely feature Burns, Floros, Khawaja and Lynn. Who gets the other two spots out of: Forrest, Heazlett, Hemphrey, Labuschagne, Peirson, Reardon and Renshaw,

M Marsh batting up the order would be a must. He really needs the development opportunity. The only issue with that is he'll hardly play Shield anyway because he's in all Aus international sides.

Yeah I completely agree about Marsh. These are just hypothetical, as shown by my selection of Cummins! I was just interested to see who would miss out on playing state cricket if everyone was available.

Recent Australian reps such as Boland, Richardson, O'Keefe, Tremain* Christian, White, Holland, Reardon, Sandhu, Boyce, Tye, Rimmington, Bollinger, Abbott, Rohrer did not make my teams.

*Technically has not played for Australia yet.

I'm gonna say Richo or Worrall if they want to rest him.

- The same for Victoria with Boland, Hastings, Pattinson, Siddle, Tremain (only 3 would get selected most likely).
Depends if they want to rest Pattinson and how much they want to, Tremain, Hastings and interchanging Siddle/Patto would be the way I'd go. Will be interesting to see if Vics are tempted to lay Sids to the wayside.

Bancroft
S.Marsh
Cartwright
M.Marsh
Klinger
Voges

Finch probably, but I'd want to play Christian so Stoinis isn't forced to bowl his delights

Renshaw and Heazlett definitely.

Forrest has disappeared into oblivion, Reardon is barely hanging on the periphery I feel, Peirson doesn't know how to formulate an innings of substance and Hemphrey/Labuschagne will act as reserves.

- I would leave out Richardson because the other 3 have made Aussie teams recently off the back of their Shield performances. Also they bowled well together last year.

- I think Boland is narrowly ahead of Tremain. Note sure if interesting is the right word re: Siddle. Thinking more like national disgrace.

- I would never bat the Aussie number 5 at 6 for his state.

- Yeah, I think Vic would play Finch too. One other possible suggestion would be to open with Stoinis or perhaps even Finch instead of Quiney, Harris or Dean, as I would rather the likes of Handscomb, Maxwell, Wade having more responsibility, not bat at 5,6 and 7.

- Yep, that was a no-brainer for me. Renshaw should be locked in more than Floros really. Heazlett looks good too. For QLD, it was actually hard to work out which 3 quicks to play. I went for Cutting and two bunnies in Stanlake and George. Feldman, Wildermuth and Steketee could easily feature.

Feel sorry for Richardson. He used to be the one guy who played for Australia on and off in his **** team, probably felt like a boss, and now he's basically the only South Australian bowler not playing for Australia

I was just having a look at Richardson's stats, hard to believe that he has only played 18 First Class matches. Yet to record a 5-fa or a 50 too.
