***Official*** Australia in South Africa + South Africa in Australia 2016/17

Not as much as Starc at 50 odd ODI caps being a GOAT.

You mean the Australian side that thrashed SL 4-1? This is clearly the best ODI side in the world closely followed by New Zealand and a few comfortable notches higher than India and England. As for South Africa, this is still a team that came third in a triangular series not that long ago. QDK just played a blinder today.

India are a notch above England at the moment. Think England still have too many question marks with their spin options to be tied with India at present. Also lack a strike bowler.

Reckon it is kind of the opposite of Tests with clear tiers at each level:

Aus
-
NZ
-
India
-
Eng/SA together with Bangladesh being behind but not miles behind.

I would say NZ sort of closer to Australia..they're the only side to have beaten Australia in a series in the last 2 years.

True dat, but sometimes you gotta dips ya lid to the bloke who makes 170 odd so fast. Sounds a great d'knock.

This is pretty much the same bowling attack that comfortably beat India 4-1 earlier in the year right? Can still see Australia winning this series.

No Australia had Hazlewood and Faulkner against India, both much better ODI bowlers than anything they have here. Also probably not the best example because India still made 300 every game.

Not saying Aus can't win the series, but it's going to have to be their batsmen that do it. (and they better play Khawaja)

Great innings by QDK. Aus will be very happy that only 2 games in the series takes place on the highveld. This bowling will get absolutely smashed on the highveld pitch and atmosphere.

I didn't watch the innings, but full credit to De Kock.

If the pitch is another good one for batting I feel like Tremain will perform better than Worrall. With the batting, I think Khawaja should come in for Head too. In theory Head's selection isn't too bad, because he can bat quickly, he can field well and roll his arm over, but I just think we'd be better off having Smith, Bailey, Marsh batting during the period that the SACA captain would bat and his bowling isn't going to offer much in SA. Those 2-3 overs could be bowled by Finch or Smith.

It is unbelievable that we have someone like Maxwell available and not playing. Especially when we already have two game changers in Faulkner and Starc unavailable. For my money Starc, Faulkner, Maxwell are probably the 3 names that I would pick first in Australia's ODI side.

couldn't agree more.

And if they insist on sticking with Head, I'd rather see him at 3 and have Smith and Bailey move down a position

>Letting Duminy STILL play but sitting Amla out when Rilee can play in the middle order just as well

Bravo

Not playing Amla when fit... so stupid. I hope its only for this game and the selectors are not going to continue with the stupidity for the rest of the series.

Imagine getting your cap from Brendan Julian when Allan Border is at the ground also doing comms.

I'd actually blow my brains out
