fingers crossed for a henry 5fer

he was tagged as a new ball bully when he emerged in odis and while he didn't take wickets in his two very short old ball spells, he bowled well imo. probably not the tour where he's going to get to prove himself in that area given wagner and two spinners are playing.

Karthik: "Now don't get me started! 13 Tests across three weather seasons and not a single game in Chennai. Last I saw was against Aus with Sachin hitting those massive finishing sixes and MSD's 224 brilliance.. people do turn up in Chennai.. why should we be denied Test Cricket???" -- why indeed, my namesake and fellow Chennai person. What's a better spectacle than a Chepauk full house in the January-March period?
Not swimming in rivers of ****.

To be totally fair to Southee, I think he would've enjoyed these conditions.
Henry's doing a fine job, though. I think he's providing more spring than Southee, who I feel would be skidding the ball through in these conditions.

Saha looks ordinary against any delivery on a decent length from what I've seen series to date. Good at driving the half-volleys though.

Southee's had plenty of supposedly favourable conditions in the last 2-3 years, and has been ordinary. I don't think we miss him at all tbh, Henry looks much better.

Once fit, Southee should have to earn his way back into this starting XI, as opposed to being an automatic pick.

Henry can bowl with the older ball but he really needs the confidence of a new ball spell to carry him through. If he gets picked as a third seamer when southee recovers I'll be so mad

and the last time he was forced to do this, he returned world class.

and a world class southee would be a nice bowler to have again

Yeah this has always been the thing with Saha. It's all about the length. A slightly full ball even on a good line will be driven beautifully, but he'll look all at sea against even a ball on his pads if it's the right length. He transfers his weight well but doesn't really use the crease at all.
