Every Indian I've ever talked to prefers Tastle's bowling, every European except Blocky prefers Sodhi. It's weird.

He's okay, he gets slow turn though and not much bounce. He properly is more consistent at landing it than Sodhi, but I feel the Indian batsmen would play him with relative ease, whereas I can actually see Sodhi bowling more deliveries that could actually get Indian wickets.
Its the opposite the way I see it. This generation of indian batsmen dont have good footwork to spin bowling and feel the urgency to keep scoring - Che and Vijay aside. A spinner who drops short or gives them freebies will allow them to score their runs without ever testing their ability. But one who keeps it tight at a good length and is constantly forcing them to move their feet, whilst simultaneously not letting them score runs, will be quite effective.

Similarly, if their is pace on the ball they can use it to score runs. If it's slow, they need to generate power, and that relies on solid footwork, which we've established that these batsmen don't have. They could do it on flatter wickets, but on turners where the margin for error is narrower, forcing them to use their feet will open up opportunities for them to make mistakes.

I can definitely see Santner and Tastle doing better on Indian turners against the Indian batsmen than Sodhi/Craig

You could have something there. He could bore them out. I suppose we'll see how Santner and Sodhi go. The former was certainly impressive in his 1st T20 tour of India, although so was Sodhi, so perhaps that's not saying much.

I strongly prefer Tastle ftr. I think the only true justification for picking Sodhi is youth; he has more scope to improve being six years younger, and has in fact improved at a quicker rate than Tastle over the past couple of seasons. I'd pick Tastle anyway because I'm more of a here and now sort of thinker when it comes to selecting sports teams but I can see the other side. I don't really buy the idea of Sodhi already being better though.. in any conditions at all, really.

Pujara's been in Bradman-esque form recently in the Duleep Trophy, I reckon he'll have a massive series here.

Can't wait for this series. Hopefully Kohli scores a million runs.

I'll be regretting this post if the pitches end up complete roads, but I do hope at least one batsman from either of the teams really piles on the runs. I actually really enjoyed the pitches last season against SA as a change up, but I don't think seeing them again would be worth all the third party whingeing we'd get on here again.

Pumped for Pujara really. Kumble has, thankfully, been saying good things about Pujara's importance to the team. Plus his Duleep Trophy monster form should mean that he shouldn't be dropped for the first two tests at the very least.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I'd prefer Tastle too tbh, although would like Sodhi to tour as well for experience and all that, but you could hardly justify Craig, Sodhi, Santner and Tastle, especially since two are leggies. Although Craig continues to have a better batting average than Santner on the all-rounder front

As for openers - if Guptill fails and we see a fill in on this tour, what do you think will happen come the home season? Debut of Raval in friendlier home conditions, back to Ruthers, or another contender in Bracewell, Smith or Brownlie?

Kumble still mentioned how there's a sword dangling over his head though. ****ing ridiculous. Rohit's head should be rolling away from the guillotine atm.

Good team. Leave out Rohit, Dhawan, Umesh and one of Bhuvi/Shami for the 11.

Ronchi will do well and he'll become NZC's first of several specialist engine room bats who reside at No. 7 in NZ conditions. Hesson will have Williamson Fleming'd into partnering Latham at the top. Young comes in at No. 3.
