I backed Kei in running so happy enough from that POV and not Scottish so no reason to mourn his loss and even if I was, his on court behavior was rotten tonight, spent the guts of 4 sets complaining as if it was going out of fashion.
It was an average enough match with numerous unforced errors, very similar to the semi final between stan and novak at Australia 2015, exciting but not high standard.

Why would he submit tamely to a bloke he dominated on this court when that bloke was in better form?Now all Novak needs is for Nishi to beat Delpo/Stan, either of who would be a tougher opponent for him, and then submit tamely to him in the final...

i agree that would be easier for novak...
silly question, so novak can have the one of the easiest conceivable path ever to a grand slam win (in the open era) of course although i have to agree, cabinet's way would be even more easier...and you can spin it however you want, regardless of that one bolt of lightning a couple of years back, of those three, nishi is definitely the weakest player and the most likely to get dominated if novak is in form...of course, both players have to reach the finals first...

He's probably better placed than he has ever been. His form since Wimbledon has been elite.
Speaking of elite, Pliskova is in form as well. Playing bloody well in the lead up to this tournament and has comfortably taken the first from Serena. Can she keep it up? She's become more clutch lately, was excellent when it counted vs. Venus.
