The honours list doesn't lie yo
Indeed, but for some reason I've not quite managed to put my finger on my swimming certificate and C in GCSE technical drawing don't tend to impress people as much as they once did.

I don't especially. Though I'd say they're "bigger" than Liverpool, but that's probably just damning with faint praise.
Bigger in the immediate present for sure, but Liverpool have a major trophy more recently.

Depends what 'big' means I guess.

Who cares. Moral of the story is Wilshere sucks

Haha, indeed, talk of which team is "bigger" is ultimately meaningless because of there's no convincing metric by which these types of assertions can be measured, or so it would seem anyway. But to me that just further illustrates why it's odd to pan him for not opting for the "bigger club".

But yes, the overarching point is that he is absolute pony, I completely agree with you there.

I don't think he'd have played at AC Milan and it would be hard to learn much with the club so poorly managed, no pre-season, having to break into the team after an injury and not speaking the language. I'm not sure if I'd have got past the part of me screaming 'you're turning down AC Milan for ****ing Bournemouth' personally. But it would be heart over head. Wilshere's made the sensible choice.

And yeah he's turd.

Ebanks-Blake and Grimmer (again) not a bad day after all.

Also  @ Everton. Only they can be taken over by a billionaire and have a negative net spend in a transfer window when everyone else is spunking money left right and centre.

Whatever your definition of it, I doubt it will have much to do with what the motives for players joining clubs are, because most people's definitions don't.

When players move clubs, by and large, the main considerations will be whether the club has prospects of success in the immediate future (i.e. in the time the player is likely to be there), whether the player is likely to play first team football, whether the club want him obviously and then other stuff we don't necessarily know and may or may not apply like family considerations etc. Given that neither club has any real prospects in the year-long length of the loan and he's a guaranteed starter at Bournemouth but not Milan, prima facie it's a sensible decision.

A club having had success in 1974 is of no direct relevance to any of this but it's definitely a factor when most people talk about a 'big' club (me included).

Wilshere is massively underrated on here and I say this as someone who considers himself not a fan of him.

Who cares about Wilshere anyway, I want Flibberty to tell me about Sullay Kaikai.
Great signing for you, was way too good for us. Looked a class act last season and should make the step up easily. Would imagine you might be able to sign him long term as with the money in the top flight now his chances will be limited. I thought of you when I saw you had signed him.

Anyway. Sissoko. £30m. Thirty ****ing million. Newcastle fans laughing at it. Mike Ashley so happy he's actually considering raising Sports Direct wages to NMW. Anyone who saw him play for Newcastle are just surprised he actually turned up to sign the contract.

Don't think anyone thinks he is a bad player just he is a crock like Redknapp and Anderton were so is a waste of time.
Totally this. When he puts together a solid season then it can be argued that he is underrated. Until then it's a case of Mr Glass occasionally lacing up some boots.

Who knows how good he is? He didn't play at all last season except at the Euros, when he was useless. Last time he had a run of games was almost two years ago and his getting injured turned Arsenal's season around. He's had a tiny sprinkling of decent performances, mostly for England against crap teams, but the last time he suggested any quality was 4 or 5 years ago. He's like, a purely theoretical footballer.

All that aside, forget recent history, AC belong in a list with the likes of Real, Barca, Man U, Liverpool, Juve, Inter, Bayern, Ajax. True European elite.
Coincidentally these are the clubs that make the most noise about running away and founding a European Super League when someone dares to play better than them.

Yeah and you know I detest all that. I loved seeing Leicester knock the lot of them off their perch, similarly Porto in 04 (though with hindsight I enjoy that less...)

But who would I rather draw if we made it to the third round of the cup, Leicester or Liverpool?

Yeah I don't think we disagree all that much. It's just that if players don't recognize trainwreck clubs for what they are, and just blindly sign on the basis of "this is a big club", then those clubs can never fall off their perch properly. I enjoy Leeds United languishing in the Championship now, for example.

Nasri, Mangala and Bony all gone on loan. City got so much money they don't give a ****.

Agree that he's a theoretical footballer. But in fairness he did have a good season in 13/14, people underrated it for some reason because of how good Ramsey was.
