50 to 25.. 25 to 15... 15 to 6.. 6 to 4.. 4 to 2.. 2 to 1...
After a bit of thought I'm gonna narrow it from 50 to 30, then we can start combining eras earlier so the competition stays fresh.

From 3 groups of 10 then we can go down to 15, 6, 4, 2 and 1.

Since you won't budge on the Golden Age, I would replace:

Stewie Dempster
Martin Donnelly
KS Duleep
Vijay Merchant
Vijay Merchant
Michael Slater

with

Desmond Haynes
Stephen Fleming
Richie Richardson
Gundappa Viswanath
Misbah-ul-Haq
Angelo Mathews

Slater deserves to be in over Viswanath or Misbah?

Slater has a better record than Viswanath. Misbah I agree probably should have made the cut, I'll see what I can do. Stephen Fleming's record isn't that impressive IMO though I know he's well loved

I think their records are very similar, and Viswanath's is better when you consider the quality of his average innings. Anyway, it's your list.

Well Slater had to face tougher bowlers
I think that's not clear cut. Viswanath faced Lilee, Roberts, Willis etc, and also had more great innings than Slater. His teammates were generally worse too so he had to carry a bigger burden (somewhat similar to what Aravinda did just with Gavaskar to help)

Hill
Jackson
Noble

Sorry to the doctor but he just doesn't make the cut.

only twice ha but perhaps once too many. An it's interesting you're the first person to not include Grace, which I think is correct considering his test record

Moving right along here folks. I feel a 2 vote gap between 5th and 6th is enough to call time on this one

Ranji (10 votes)
Hill (8 votes)
Jackson (5 votes)

Have you ever tried dictating a country? I mean this in the nicest way - there are good and bad dictators. I really enjoy the way you don't bother with feasibility studies, and due process and other bureaucracy and just get things done. Awesome job!
