Massive day at the bottom of div 1 today. Hampshire and Surrey with decent chances of victory. If that were to happen, Notts would be bottom and with a significant point gap to make up.
Surrey really need to win today, having got themselves in a strong position. I don't think we can afford a repeat of not being able to dismiss Middlesex on Day 4 a week or two ago.

Looking at their side today, it's one of the more balanced attacks that you'll see - two RMF in Meaker and Curran T, two LMF in Footitt and Curran S Batty's off-spin and Ansari's left-handed spin.
Whether it's good enough against some very experienced Warwickshire batters may be another matter. It would be just like Bell to piss me off with an unbeaten 150.

Looks like the pitch is still a massive road so should be a draw at Old Trafford. Hameed striking at over 100 his morning tho.

wow Napier 50 championship wickets for the season. First time he's done it apparently and in his final season before retirement.

Is there much scope for Hameed to play any first class cricket over the winter?

I'm assuming there's no sum of runs that gets him picked for India, so an A-tour or Sheff Shield or something?

Ansari has barely got through a game this season without some kind of injury. Off again today with a back problem.

Billings and Bob key chatting the breeze in this u19s game. England seamers looked pretty average to poor from what I've seen. Spinners looked not bad though.

Yeah, I know he's got a lot of talent, but he's made of glass. Would rather Samit, if they wanted a left-armer who can bat, but go for Rayner, we've got enough batting all-rounders. It's such a paucity with spinners though, you feel if someone takes a bagful in these last few weeks it may get an unusual call-up, Jack Leach anyone?

Think I'd prefer basically anyone over Samit. Too casual a bat, terrible bowler and too fat. Haven't seen a whole lot of Leach but when he's got wickets, so have the likes of Tom Cooper and Van der Mervwe. They certainly could pluck someone a bit out of left field though. Wouldn't take much for someone to jump the list so scarce are the options.

He has a nice loop, looks a proper bowler, for what that's worth, it's all a bit desperate though.

Bottom of the table now I think

Surrey 13 143
Lancs 12 139
Warw 12 134
Durham 11 133
Hampshire 12 117
Notts 12 103

Fairly ridiculous schedules.

Two 50 over qfs tomorrow. No break for the teams after their 4 day games.

Worcestershire in particular have been bowling all day today and play Somerset, who had the week off to prepare. Big advantage for Somerset you'd guess even if they aren't a great white ball team. Obviously that's luck of the draw- still a shame something like than can happen.

Sounds perfectly fair to me:ph34r:
