I think just about every century of Kohli's in that last Australian tour was memorable, the twin tons in Adelaide and that magnificent century in Melbourne. One of my other favs was his counter attacking 100 v SA on a day one pitch helping seamers against Steyn, Morkel, Philander and Kallis.

Adelaide twin tons were golden.

Not his fault the umpires robbed Rahane and Saha is horrendous to not win the match. Was still ridiculous.
Every time I read a ThinskIndian supporter talk about Rahahane they always say he only gets out because the umpires robbed him. I saw the shot he played today and the bloke is a spud. Shouldn't be mentioned in any context in this thread.

That remains my favourite Kohli Test century to date. I was convinced we were going to win that match after getting the third wicket early on day 5. :(

He would not only walk straight into the Australian team right now, but he'd be appointed their batting coach.

Sydney was good to when he pelvic thrusted at the bogans* doing the "you are a wanker" chant when he was on 99

i.e. Burgey's mates

I've got Rahane listed in my sig's overrated XI. After much consideration of his technique for me it boils down to the fact he is a bit afraid of the ball. And this fact impacts his body shape and timing.

No flames please.

Watch his ton in Melbourne and the way he played Mitch. You'll change your view.

No I won't
Watch his Lord's ton then, he'll show you how Aussies (and Kohli) should bat in England

In all seriousness (well semi-seriousness), I reckon Rahane is the type of player you'd like. The flicks a switch and doesn't give a **** type of player who plays completely different to how he looks. Melb was the best example of him just going nuts.

This is how I imagine the convo went that day when he cut loose batting with Kohli:

Kohli: Jinx, time to cut loose here, they look a bit tired.
Rahane: okay boss *head bobble*

*Rahane starts pulling every ball for 4*

I think Smith is absolutely ****, both as a human being and as a player.

No flames please

I'd have to disagree here. The Adelaide second innings ton was really, really special. More on point, in addition to bring a great knock on a turning track, it was the stage and circumstances... First test in Australia post Hughes, kohli's first test as Captain, the way he almost singlehandedly dragged us to a victory in a match we had absolutely no right to get anywhere close to winning, and even the way India collapsed at the end and fell short etc... Even if you don't think it's the best hundred among all the ones the four have made (I do), it has all the hallmarks of an innings that isn't going to be forgotten in a hurry.
Yeah I would agree that was up there with the best innings any of them have played. I think Root has played the following innings I'd call memorable/special (I've ranked them):

110 against South Africa where no other batsmen in the game got above 58
130 at Trent Bridge on really spicey seamer after Aus 60 ao
254 against Pakistan where he was basically perfect
138 at Cardiff on a tricky wicket where no one else got a ton.
104 at Leeds, his first ton which anchored innings against good bowling on helpful deck.
I also think his 73 on debut in Nagpur is a pretty special effort.

Still think all these guys are equally good, with Kohli being the one least likely to make huge scores often. But then his ODI and T20 exploits almost make up for that.

I guess their point is he's played less memorable, as opposed to no memorable? His SA, 2nd innings Adelaide are probably his best.

Kohli is not in my overrated XI. But if I had an underrated XI he would be in it. He is a superb talent. The crispness of his onside drives are remarkable. Better yet is the sheer passion and human emotion he can bring to an inning. One day he will play one of the top 5 test innings of all time.

Do you have Rahane in there for CW overrating him or general public overrating him?
