*Official* Pakistan in England and Ireland 2016

Just because Misbah was really defensive in the field doesn't mean they wouldn't have tried chasing down 310 in 90 overs. A lot of Pakistan's cricket is about being attritional and striking when the opportunity arises. You don't gift them an opportunity. The wicket is probably as easy as it has been the whole game. England have one poor spinner in their team whose confidence is very low - could easily go for 0-100 of 20 overs.

Yeah moaning about the overnight declaration is all well and good from an entertainment POV but absolutely no way should Cook have done if.

How many runs until he's not risking defeat in your view?
I said yesterday I would have had the batsmen slog for 5 overs and assessed then. I'd have been looking to set 340-350 in 82 overs if at all possible, although I would have had no issue with batting another 5-10 overs beyond that to rule out a Pakistan win entirely.

This has been a much better start, from Broad especially, but he gets the wicket from a straight ball on the hip..

Watch the Sri Lanka v Australia tests and you wqon't find more wretched dismissals than that of Hafeez.

The flat track bully of his generation.

Haha turns out Cook's done almost exactly that.

Cricinfo app seems to be implying Pakistan have 84 overs to bat out total - I thought 2 were lost for the change of innings?

Yeah I'm obviously chatting **** RE 98, but on day five the number of overs seems less relevant as the day goes on anyway, and it all becomes about the clock. Perhaps I'm making it up.

Cook's now 5364 runs behind.... Anyone aware of any bookies offering odds on him going passed Sachin?
He's a bit too (relatively) rocks and diamonds for mine. Like, when he struggles he struggles hard and doesn't punch out ugly 50s regularly like Tendulkar did.

I'd say arguably more worryingly for Cook is that his conversation rate has fallen off a cliff. So many great looking 50s recently that should have been made into big hundreds but weren't.
