*Official* Australia in Sri Lanka 2016

According to cricinfo lowest Aus opener total in a match (guessing min 2 innings) since Taylor in 1994 bagged em.

I would love Warner to go on an extended run of dire form, but I'm sure he will be chainsawing a 180 in the next Test.

Williamson, Root, Kohli and Smith are clearly the best 4 batsmen in the world on current form.

Smith has the best average with the worst technique... but his recent conversion rate is excellent which shows fantastic mental prowess. Probably deservedly number one.

That's prob why he said on current form

Thats it for the day i guess
Such a dumb post from weldone though. No one said Smith and Root have surpassed Amla and Younis career wise. When the discussion is about "Best batsman in the workd right now" how can you ignore current form? Makes no sense.

Will be a massive, massive test for Smith to pass here. Run rate falling, no boundary in 40 balls on a really difficult track. Match winning knock here would cement him as the world's best for me.
maybe on current form - but none from the younger crop has done enough to surpass AB, Amla, Younis yet

Either show me where the words 'right now' are in 91jmay's post or apologise and call yourself dumb 101 times.

Everything clouds his judgement when it comes to England and Australia.

In the context it quite clearly meant at the moment. If you think otherwise you're either lying or are incredibly dumb.

think it's pretty clear that when 91Jmay said "world's best", he meant "better than bradman".

It's unclear whether 91jmay meant 'world's best batsman right now' or 'world's best batsman among those who are still playing'

There is a clear difference between the two that many people don't understand. They made the same mistake between Ponting and Tendulkar in 2004.

Weldone ruining cricket threads since 2008.

Presuming the day is over like they all have been after tea so far this is set up for a thriller of a final day. One partnership could do it for Australia and one mistake could be all it needs for SL to force the win. I joked about SL winning in this series when they were in England but knew they would be far more competitive but still expected the Aussies to win easily enough. To see a real nailbiter in the first test is a surprise and a pleasant one whoever ends up winning. Hope the rest of the series is as tense.

shame we can't use statsguru to see if Sandakan is already in the top 10 of most wickets taken by a left arm wrist spinner
