I'm not sure about that. I mean this is a pretty standard Pakistan show and not just this generation. Remember plenty of matches where Wasim and Waqar splayed the new ball and got 0 wickets with the new ball. Same with Shoaib. This is pretty usual. We tend to remember their great spells and gloss over those times when they bowled a poor line and length.

Here is an example of a game where the combined might of Wasim, Waqar and Shoaib took a sum total of 0 wickets with the new ball splaying it short and wide all over the place.

Terrific Misbah inning. Thought he had slow reflexes against the quickest deliveries. England wasn't able to exploit that though. Few times he hit and missed v Bell, they brought back Broad early in his inning when he wasn't too settled.

Also re Moeen Ali. I know a lot of people (Pews etc) are die hard fans but he just doesn't look the goods. Had what 12-18 months with the ball which was good but he isn't what I would call a specialist spinner like Giles even. Bowls far too many loose and non threatening deliveries.

Not sure what's better.. selecting your best three seamers even if they are three left armers or going for a slightly lesser right hander as the third option. Probably the slightly lesser right hander to bring in some thing different.
