Consider this. If you are a T20 bowler would you rather face Gayle, Kohli and AB in that order or the Aussie international team? The RCB top 3 is literally the 3 best T20 batsmen ever in one team. No international team would have a better top order.

Now all you have to do is imagine the top T20 bowlers in one team, and your argument stops making sense.

It's easy to forget how dominant Gayle has been as he hasn't been impressive last few years. Why had Kohli not performed as well in the same competitions as Gayle did so well in till three or so years back like say the IPL? Gayle's number of centuries should be put in perspective. Till 2-3 years back not many players were being able to manage hundreds in T20 like they are now. Gayle kept making them. The dominance in IPL he had was quite unreal as well. Just like we can forget WG's numbers from his younger days when we look as his test stats, there is a danger it can happen with Gayle after a few years as more players make runs in the format. If Kohli continues to show the form he had last year or so in crucial knock out games, maybe we can put him ahead of Gayle in a few years. Not right now though.

Gi Joe not making much sense here. Some of the attacks in the IPL have been very good over the years, better than a lot of T20I attacks. In fact, the general quality of play in the IPL has always been higher than in the T20I scene.

The reason you have to imagine the top T20 bowlers in one team is because that lineup does not exist!!! Are you having a lend? Your entire argument depends upon the existence of this imaginary bowling attack! Are you actually proposing that such a lineup not only does exist in domestix/franchise, but that it is so ubiquitous and typical of domestix/franchise bowling attacks that they form the bulk of bowling attacks faced by a T20 batsmen in that league?

Disagree so far as bowling attacks are concerned. Averaged out I'd take an international bowling attack over a domestic one any day. A batsman is also much more likely to come across an absolutely filthy bowling attack in domestix/franchise (relative to international cricket) and thus cash in big time.

Do they have stronger attacks than International teams?

(a) yes

(b) no
Par I would say and I'll explain why.

On paper international attacks. However the leagues have players suited to conditions. Then international T20 often had second grade teams playing the matches. How often do best line ups turn up in international T20 apart from the World T20 or close to it? I can see more stability in intetnational T20 with more focus on it with a world cup every two years set in stone. However till now, if you compare strength of attacks they have faced international v domestic, it's not that clear. Take out a few games Gayle played for WI in an international T20 and you might be surprised that the bowlers weren't the best ones those countries had at the time.

Why do you guys believe so? Honestly, I've seen nothing in most T20 attacks which immediately strikes me as being better than the IPL bowling attacks.

Can't believe Punjab lost, even though they had international powerhouse Farhaan Behardien coming in at 7. Sad days.

I mean, in T20Is, you have some excellent bowlers mixed in with plenty of absolute garbage ones picked because they're t20 "specialists" but just bowl dross. In the IPL, you get pretty much all of the very best international t20 players mixed in with domestic bowlers who aren't amazing, but genuinely know how to bowl on Indian surfaces, plus some genuinely trash bowlers. Similar for the batsmen as well.

Can't imagine how cool Behardien's name would have been if he was actually a gun. Now it evokes nothing.

It's actually news to me that some people believe that the IPL has stronger attacks than international T20, and I'm wondering why you guys would think so well of attacks that feature hacks that wouldn't make their national side in a million years.

Unless you're specifically talking about Netherlands/Afghanistan/Zimbabwe/Bangladesh as the T20I scene then you about as wrong as can be

I saw the supposedly international quality bowling attack of Steyn, Abbott and Rabada bowl more trash in those 20 overs against England than any of the "pop gun" attacks in the IPL.

Saying that you think some of the best IPL attacks are better than some of the worst T20I attacks, even if true, isn't the same as saying that IPL attacks are generally better than T20I attacks

T20I attacks generally only look better on paper imo and generally have a few t20 "specialists" thrown together to play a random 2 match series. Feel that the IPL being as mindnumbingly long as it is allows several of these attacks to find the right balance as the tournament goes on.

I came up with a hypothetical because I haven't been following the IPL closely and I don't know a good bowling team. I don't know why you think this is the entire argument when I pointed out 2-3 issues earlier. Anyway, if you want to believe Kohli is the T20 GOAT, no one is stopping you have it your way :)
