**Official* IPL 2016

Whatever it takes!!!
That is DD's problems. They do not have enough middle order batsmen. Think Iyer and De Kock should open. Its a no-brainer and Nair should bat at 3 because of his obvious potential. They need to figure out the rest of the batting order around these guys and unfortunately they are not doing that.

I know Delhi were horrible today but i really do like the look of their side tbh.Good Indian core with quality but not WC foreign stars. Some of them are new to the international scene afterall.
De Kock is going to be the next superstar of South Africa.Even AB wasnt this good at his age.
Whilst Nair and Iyer will be representing India on the test scene pretty soon imo atleast i hope.Dhawan's got enough chances and its time to bin him.Not to mention Samson who's proven quality in the IPL.
Nice exciting young core they've got.
Delhi have a good XI, but like a typical IPL team, are a fruit-salad selection, so they don't play well as a team. If only it wasn't a different salad each year, they'd do a lot better.

Both teams packed as many overseas bowlers as they could- three full-fledged overseas bowlers on each side. Somehow, KKR's domestic batting did a lot better- but those were heavyweights in comparison to many young Indian batsmen for DD.

Nair and Iyer still have three more seasons to go before being Test-ready. Let them face other teams' reserves and tour with India A for three years, play tour games against visiting sides in India, and then they'll be ready. Rather, on the opposite side, Uthappa should be playing ODIs and T20Is sooner than later- he deserves more chances than Raina, Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who were carried till they struck form. He never had that support.

Pawan Negi is one from DD who needs more support. He's had a great SMA Trophy, and should have been playing T20Is for India in the World Cup, but missed out. Hopefully he'll get to play all the matches here. Umesh Yadav, on the other hand, would do well to miss out on a few matches here and there, so that his Test and ODI bowling don't get affected by bad habits brought in by T20.

What an underwhelming start to IPL 9. Especially after a great WT20. Both games had lame first innings, with supremely easy chases. The IPL needs a good game quite quickly to energize fans..

just realised that Shaun Marsh has been with Kings XI Punjab since day dot, how many others are still with the same team they started with in 2008? Kohli's another. Chennai/Rajasthan's suspension's kinda ruined it for the likes of Dhoni, Raina and Watson

edit: also just realised that Marsh didn't play a game in 2009.
having a quick look now, Harbhajan's another. Malinga was bought by Mumbai in 2008 but he didn't play

Absurd that any team in a scenario where they have to pick Stoinis as an overseas player.

credit where its due, a decent knock from Stoinis, although totally dire knock from Saha probably cost them here.

Finch is so, so good. Rekon I'd take him ahead of any other T20 opener purely for his consistency.

FMD Brad Hodge just exudes such a dickishness.

He is good, but don't forget how poison he was for Mumbai, he getting injured and Simmons getting drafted in was a huge moment in their season getting back on track last year.

Unnecessary flexing by BCCI re: Harsha Bhogle, but that seems to be their trademark. I don't believe he's overly critical of Indian cricketers, but he does give the impression that he wants to seen as a complete neutral / impartial commentator. Regardless, that is no reason to sack him from the IPL. And if the reason is actually the spat he had with a Vidarbha Cricket Association official over a damn door, the BCCI is probably even more pig-headed than generally thought.
Harsha Bhogle responds to MS Dhoni, Amitabh Bachchan?s criticism of Indian commentators | The Indian Express

This is just absurd. Not much of a fan of Bhogle's commentary, but I hate Amitabh Bacchan for sticking his oar in, hope he gets done in the Panama papers thing. Dhoni also should hang his head. If this was what prompted BCCI to get rid of him, it's a new low. Oh, and nothing but utter contempt for Bacchan's legion of Twitter brown-nosers... what a pathetic bunch of losers.

It's like Botham or Bill Lawry getting criticism for being too balanced in their opinion
