Cahill is fine. It's weird that you have that opinion. He's been around for so long that I thought everyone now agreed that he was nothing more or less than a fairly solid defender.

That Gomez goal happened because Khedira wasn't closed down and picked out a beautiful pass to a striker who lives for that type of goal. Wouldn't blame Cahill for it at all.
Cahill constantly gets caught under the ball at crosses and starts throwing himself around because he has no idea where the bloke he's meant to be marking is.

Cahill a C+ player for mine. I'm not sure I would go so far to even describe him as solid, but he's serviceable enough. Utterly unremarkable though, couldn't really explain what he's all about without mentioning his name or appearance or who he plays for. One of these players I watch and just think "he's just not quite right somehow". But I'm not entirely sure why.

C+ seems harsh. You don't rate many CBs though right? What good CBs would you say there are playing in England?

Probably is harsh tbf, but you're right, off the top of my head I can't think of many centre backs in England I would rate as being drastically better. Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Koscielny are the only 3 off the top of my head who I'd say are conceivably top bracket at the moment, and even then I'm not sure I'd be able to make an especially convincing argument for that.

It's like I say though. If someone asked me to describe Cahill without mentioning his name, appearance, or who he played for, I think I would have a seriously tough job. Suspect it would sound like I could be talking about Eric Pieters or Wes Morgan or Ashley Williams etc.. I'm never really especially keen on players you can say that of.

Haha Bild is just a rag. Weird how people take other countries' gutter press as actual sources when we all know to ignore our own.

I'd say Xhaka to Arsenal probably will happen though.
With the possibility of Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky going out this summer I can see us bringing in another midfielder but not at that cost. More like another El Neny and promote a youth player or two to the first team squad is what I envisage.

Norwood's on Fire
One of my mates posted somewhere that it's almost like an uncle or something dying. Incredible connection with the fans. His genius took us places but his dignity won the hearts of many. Such a shame that he died with us having undone his great work and then some, knowing how much the club meant to him and all.

All the usual cliches will be out now but let's hope one of our local lads drums into the rest of the squad what he meant to the club and it spurs us onto win promotion in his honour.

A very sad day. Never realised it would hit me so hard.

I've got a 7 leg multi going on at the moment where the results at HT (6 prem matches plus Chelsea) are the results I've picked for full-time. I would have made a killing if I had of predicted the same results at half-time as the odds would have been way higher than the $144-1 I got. Pretty nervous about Stoke defence and a random goal in Sunderland/West Brom.

"Since Liverpool last won the league, Peter Schmeichel signed for MUFC, won it 5 times, retired, had a son, and now he's about to win it."

Haha, ouch.
