It's quite sad how many great players of the late 90s and this century have emerged as absolute wankers. It's only the ones who seemed like total ****s on the field who seem like reasonable blokes (Neville, Carragher).
Yeah I never really minded Carragher but Neville has been a crazy turnaround, really wanted Valencia to get through tonight.

Scholes was a nasty **** on the field at times.
Fair point but always felt he seemed a likeable footballer in spite of that

I didn't really mind Carragher either but you had the whole coin throwing, the Lucas Neill thing etc so he never exactly came up as one smelling of roses.

Lucas Neill thing?

So Valencia and Darmian are our first two subs. Makes sense - with three unanswered goals required in one half of football, why wouldn't you bring on two defenders?

Because the two players he replaced were playing so badly.

We don't really have game-changing options going forward anyway.

Followed by a holding midfielder. I'm not saying our fullbacks were playing well, bit I'd have liked us to have been more adventurous with the substitutions given the situation.

I guess you could do Depay for Lingard but I'm not sure what that buys you.

I mean, Varela and Rojo being embarrassing just tells you that Valencia and Darmian should have started. So it's not exactly letting LVG off the hook to say they were the right changes to make. Varela was just never going to be up to facing Coutinho, and Rojo's probably the worst first-teamer we have.

I'm sure United will find their way soon enough. :)

Am enjoying our success right now though! Please no BVB in the quarters. ;)

Fellaini doesn't really work unless you build the team around him. He's not always the worst player out there but he does throw of the balance, slow down play and seems to force us into predicable patterns. He also doesn't seem to fit alongside a single one of our other midfielders.

Depay for Lingaard definitely should have happened. The other 2 subs are standard Loopy subs. Not a single sub actually made a difference.

I get that Fellaini seems limited but every time we face United he's the player I worry about most.
