Don't forget Colin Maiden Oval plus a year or 2 playing for CD, and playing away from home every second game...
Colin is a mid order bully, opening is the toughest job in cricket. Pretty easy to nick of early with a shiny cherry, even on a road.
Martin Guptill is hardly showing his skills at test cricket after alot of time and patience. Raval has earnt the right to be next in line surely.
Smith isn't there yet, Flynn is to old and inconsistent to be considered, Wilson is average at best, Brownlie has failed as an opener this year, a make shift opener is always a bad idea in Tests. Could always move Guppy to 5 (would get the best out of him IMO, would probably fall to the second new ball though :P), Nicholl's needs more time and Young needs to learn how to get hundy's.

Will probably never happen. But I really do think having a rookie 5 (even by domestic standards) and keeping a talented but clearly out of depth Guptill at the top makes our batting order incredibly wobbly and vulnerable. Especially when compared to having a well earned/traveled established run making opener in Raval, and taking a bit of pressure off Guptill down the order.
