McClure was always the good kid who'd try to salvage some respectability to NZ U19's totals after Weerasundara and Seifert and co. had tried to Baz it up and failed, too. Strange from Stead.

I don't think Hawke's Bay are especially happy that Carter/Boult/Hampton were 'dropped' by ND for this fixture. That being said, Carter's been batting like ****, Boult's been bowling like ****, and Hampton's probably not a clear improvement on Goodin anyway.
Goodin would be playing for BOP in that case anyway. Carter needed to go too, been mud all season. Brownlie could've joined him in this game too.

Black mark against Stead that it took so long to promote McClure to the FC team.

This isn't just a ooooh U19 cricketer, SELECT HIM! Rant.

McClure had a good A tourney last year. But Canty had Hira opening and Fulton in the middle order.
Don't get me started

Nethula successfully restricted Young's hope for quick runs with an around the wicket tactic, after tea. CD now four wickets from a loss.

Man you don't want to be batting first, trying to set up a match and then looking to bowl teams out on the fourth day in NZ these days. Wellington on track to take this just like Canterbury did - think it was something like 170 needed from the last session and now they're 15 runs away.

And now finally he's got a tag line:

"Hi, I'm Ken McClure, you might remember me from such innings as 193 not out versus Otago in Invercargill . . . "

Checked the scores and thrilled to see that McClure & Colson, two players I've long had high hopes for, have lead their teams to victory.

If only he was born in Porirua in 1998 rather than 1988, eh. We might be onto a new Firebirds seamer who was never anyone else's discard.

Malcolm Nofal with 187 opening this afternoon for Onslow against a (now Ryder and Salisbury free) Petone-Riverside attack.

Ricky Joseph with a ten-wicket haul for Easts against Johnsonville in the Pearce Cup today, apparently.
Big news. I remember the controversy that broke out around here when I said he looked 135kms.

Ten wickets in a day? You mean Johnsonville batted twice in the same day, or did the game start last week?

Is that Pete Connell (former Hawkes Bay CD 'A' and Ireland international) opening the bowling alongside Joseph? Back in the day apparently hit Astle on the head two deliveries in a row as a net bowler. Nath wasn't happy...
